Order 14 Whereas the vestry being Satisfied that mr. James Keith has been guilty of Several crimes very unworthy of the Character of a Minister of our Holy Church particularly his having a Bastard Child, Drunkenness and rude behaviour offered to very virtuous Women. Therefore they do refuse to entertain him any longer as minister of this parish, and do Declare that from this time they will not make him any allowance as minister. And it is thereupon ordered that the Clerk do give him notice hereof by Delivering him a Copy of this Order. Ordered That the Church Wardens of the parish in behalf of the vestry do make a Representation hereof to the Governor. William Randolph. Ch. War'n [Warden]

At a vestry held at Curls Church for Henrico parish in 17th day of June 1735 present William Randolph [Esq?] , Richard Randolph, Bowler Cocke and James powell Cocke. Gent. vestrymen.

Pursuant to the directions of an of Acts of Assembly directing the Dividing Henrico parish, the freeholders and houskeepers present do unanimously Elect Edward Curd, John Williamson, James Cocke, John Povall and Rob't Mosby, which with ye vestrymen formerly of this parish make up the number Twelve, who take the oaths and Subscrib ye Declaration as vestrymen.

I do sincerely promise and Swear to be conformable to the Doctrine and Discipline of the Church of England June ye 17th 1735

James Powel Cocke and James Cocke Gent. are Elected Church Wardens for this parish

The Vestry agred that Mr. Zach. Brook do preach a Day in every fifth week at the falls Chappel and Mr. David Mossom every fifth Sunday at the Church for which they are to be allowed four hundred pounds of Tob'o p. Sermon

Sackvile Brewer is continued Reader of this Church and Clerk of ye vestry.

John Eals is continued Reader of ye Chappel.

John Hobson is continued Sexton of this Church.

Elenor Williams is continued Sexton at ye Chappel.

At a Vestry held at Curls Church on Sunday morning September ye 28th 1735 Present James Powel Cocke, James Cocke, Richard Randolph, John Redford, Bowler Cocke, John Bolling, Edward Curd, John Povall, John Williamson, and Robt Mosby Gent vestrymen

The Rev'd Mr. Anthony Gavin produces a letter from the Hon'ble William Gooch Esq'r his Mag's Lieu't Governor of this Colony, and another from the Rev'd James Blair Commisary, directed to the Church Wardens and Gents. of the vestry recommending the said Mr. Gavin to the Cure of this parish, which are Read and the Vestry being desirious of first hearing him perform the office of his Ministereal function do Suspend their opinion as to his reception till after Sermon, when they do agree to meet again

Whereas the Revd. Anthony Gavin hath performed his office both in reading and preaching to the General Satisfaction and approbation of the vestry it is thereupon unanimously agreed that he be received and entertained as minister of this parish. and it is thereupon ordered that the Church Ward do Answer the Governors and Commisarys Letters, and inform them of the proceedings herin.

By Tobacco lev'd in Dale parish Neet 4136 By 1013 Tithables at 33 pounds tobacco per pole 33429 Ballance Due to the Collector 175 37740 It is ordered that John Nash Gen't do receive of every Tithable person in this parish Thirty three pounds of Tobacco being the parish Levy for this year, and if any person refuses to pay the Same he is to Disrain for it, and pay unto each parish Creditor respectively their Several sums of Tobacco as in the proportions of the said Levy are mentioned for the performance of which the said John Nash Enters into bond Bowler Cocke and John Bolling Gen't Securities . Mr William Fuller is Chosen a Vestryman in the Room of Joseph Mayo Gent. who is willing to resign the place the said Fuller take the oaths as a Vestryman and Signs the Declaration accordingly. present William Fuller On the Motion of Mr. Anthony Gavin the Vestry do agree to make all necessary reparations to the Gleeb House and to build a Kitchin Twenty four feet long and Sixteen feet broad to be underpind with Brick and an inside Brick Chimney. Richard Randolph and Edward Curd Gent are appointed to view the Chappel and report what reparations ad Adititions [Additions] are thereunto wanting. It is ordered that Mr. John Nash Collector of this parish do receive of every Tithable in the said parish Six pence Curr'nt money or five pounds of tobacco to be imploy'd towards repairing the Chappel.
