Dear Mrs. Hall
I received this carton of cigarettes yesterday and am wasting no time thanking you for them. I sure appreciate Canadian cigarettes.
This country is pretty good in most ways, but their weather is terrible, and we are grounded a lot of the time.
Most people here figure the war is just about over and can't last much longer, hope their right.
Well Cheerio F/Sgt/ Rene Gillette.

Dear Mrs. Hall:
The box of cigarettes, 300 Buckingham, which you sent me, arrived a couple of weeks ago. Thank you very much. However I must admit that I do not smoke but trust you will approve of my passing them on to some of my friends who are not as fortunate as I am in receiving parcels. They certainly appreciate them & want me to thank you, which I do now. Life is quite pleasant and I am very glad indeed I have come to England. In spite of the climate being so rainy. I am sure the people have fewer bad colds than they do in Canada and altho the food is monotonous & heavy it is certainly healthful and plentiful. The thing I am most dissapointed in is the architecture and general aspect of the towns, cities and countryside. Everything looks so plain and colorless from the outside but the inside of the houses are quite pleasing and the rooms seem more livable than canadian homes average.
Good health and spirits to you.
Yours sincerely, F.R. Jones.
