re. Tu giovane bello richo gentile dextro
et virtuoso et piu che qualunche altro
di tua eta et fortuna amato da tutti
et reverito. Conoscoti prudente studi--
oso et in omni laude et gentileza tale
che io in me mai saprei desiderare feli--
cita altra che questa quale a te hane o
la fortuna , ola virtu tua concesso et aqui--
stato. So quanto mi stimi fra tuoi fida--
tissimi amici, per questo a me parse o
debito o licito richiedere date che tu
ame come ad amico imponessi parte
de quisti toi incarchi quali cossi ti at--

and virtuous, and more than anyone else
of your age and circumstances, loved
and honored by all. I know you to be discerning,
learned and in all praise and nobility such
that I would not know how to desire for myself
happiness other that that which you have, either
through your fortune or by virtue, either granted or
gained. I know how much you consider me
among your most trustworthy friends. For this reason, it seems to me
whether given by duty or permission to ask from you
that you as a friend, would place a portion
of this burden which weighs you down
