Translation

always, previously so happy, but now suddenly, there is a sign of such overwhelming pain.

You [who are] young, handsome rich, noble, capable
and virtuous, and more than anyone else
of your age and circumstances, loved
and honored by all. I know you to be discerning,
learned and in all praise and nobility such
that I would not know how to desire for myself
happiness other that that which you have, either
through your fortune or by virtue, either granted or
gained. I know how much you consider me
among your most trustworthy friends. For this reason, it seems to me
whether given by duty or permission to ask from you
that you as a friend, would place a portion
of this burden which weighs you down
