neither of the Brackenburys, nor
yet the Exhibition. He is very
angry & declares there has been
robbery & that he will migrate
to New College. My Lost Lady [novel Lost Lady of Old Years]
has not been placed yet, but Lane
says that he is doing his best. He is
sending me an enormous number
of mss just now. Altogether I
am fairly overworked, for the
Academy wired to me and called
for an article on Barry Pain
for its Xmas number, and as I
had not read that gentleman's
books, I had some trouble
getting them up. I have corrected
more proofs of J. B. of B. I
