My own little darling

Here I am back again in this queer place. We had an
appalling crossing and Lord N. [Northcliffe] was more deadly sick than any man I have ever
seen.
We lunched at Boulogne with Flora and Diana Russell, who sent
you their love. We had tea with Newton's daughter, Mrs Warburton, at
Abbeville. I am glad you are not working there, my cat. It is deadly dull
and she is never allowed to leave the town. You are less in touch with the war
than you would be in Balham.

We got ot GHQ about 6.30. I wasn't feeling my best all
day, so as soon as I wrote my communiqué I had some of the food you sent
me (which I found waiting) and went to bed with a hot bottle. I am much
better this morning, and am going to live on the strictest diet till I am
