Now don't please be startled at
what you may think a very odd
request! We want you, if you will, to
be Mary's godfather, for she is to be
christened in a highly unorthodox way at
St Martin's in the Fields on Sat. June 18th,
that ceremony having been omitted when she
was a baby. No creeds, no prayer-book
service, but just a few questions of the
simplest kind to Mary and me and her
godmother (Maisie Fletcher), and the thing
