The State of Alabama } To any Lawful office Shelby County } of the State Complaint of oath haveing been made before one, that the offence of murder has been committed by the killing of a negroe man by the name of Charles the property of Edward Florey and accusing John W. Florey thereof. You are therefore commanded forthwith to arrest John W. Florey and bring him before Charles F. Elliott an acting Justice of the aforsaid county this 23rd day of Sept 1860 Wm. M. Hannah Special Coronor

The State of Alabama } To any Sheriff of the State of Alabama Shelby County } You are herebyCommanded to notify John W. Florey Henry E Florey and Edward Florey that at the Spring Term 1861 of the Circuit Court for Shelby County the following Condition as Judgement rendered against them (viz) The State of Alabama } Indictment for murder 714 vs } Is appearing that the Defendent John W Florey John W Florey } & Henry E Florey& Edward Florey entered into and made a recognizance as follows to which "State Vs John W Florey charged with murder The State of Alabama } Know all men by these presents that we John Shelby County } W Florey H.E. Florey & Edward Florey are held and firmly bound unto A.B. Moore Govenor of the State of Alabama and his successors in the penal sum one thousand dollars for the payment of which we bind ourselves our heirs and assigns jointly & severally firmly by these presents sealed with our seals & dated this the 25th Sept 1860. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the said John W Florey has been charged with the murder of a certain negro boy named Charles the property of Edward Florey and required by C. F. Elliott Justice of the Peace and James Bailey associate Justice of the Peace to appear at the next time of the Circuit Court for Shelby County and answer said charge and appear from day to day & from term to term until discharged by due course of law. Now should said John W Florey appear as so required this obligations to be void else to remain in full force and effect. Signed Sealed and delivered this day and date above written. JW Florey {Seal} HE Florey{Seal} Edward Florey {Seal}. Approved 25th Sept1860, CF Elliott J.P. James Bailey J.P., and the Said John W Florey having failed to appear & answer in this case to the charge in said Indictment as required by his recognizance aforesaid. It is ordered that The State of Alabama for the use of Shelby County recover of the said John W Florey Henry E Florey and Edward Florey on such recognizance or understanding as aforesaid the said sum of one thousand dollars unless
