Turned out at the toot, steady rain. Company went out to erect kitchen for officers quarters. I remained in my tent reading. Sold cigarettes to Chinese. After dinner Jack and I went up to Church Army Hut for cigaretes. Played match after tea. App, Jack George & Chapp returned from guard.

THURSDAY 3
Turned out set in rain spent morning writing Australian letters. After dinner Jack and I took stroll up to La Flaques [?]. After tea we played cards until time to turn in. Heavy rain set in during night.
