October 1919
Wednesday 22
Passed boat from Australia at about 3pm. Issue of comforts, gifts. Continued printing snaps, usual routines.
A great part of my time abroad I spent reading mostly about Paris, I find the works about Paris and the life there is a far more side interesting now that I have actually been there myself. Eve Norris by Claire de Pratz gives one a good insight to life of Bohemian Paris. I find in Paris that the people show their feelings a lot more than the people of England. Although their passion they seem to show more. But: I find it very hard quite to understand the people of Paris.

Thursday 23
Boat averaging about 11 knots per hour. Owing to our going Sth weather turning very cold.
Now that we are about 3 wks off home it is impossible to pass a day, in fact an hour without thinking of home & what will it be like when you do eventually get back. I have only been away 15 months. But during that time I have seen a great deal and I often wonder what change will they notice in me. Rose & George say that I have altered a great deal. I wonder whether for the good or bad.
