NOVEMBER 1919
FRIDAY 7
Attended Communion at 7am. Bert called me. Getting very tired of trip, growing very monotonous, expect this is due to being so near home, impatient - No inspection this morning, so went below at 10am and played Bridge until 12.30 - dinner time. After dinner went up above & obtained my kit bag, went through it took out valuables & handed it in at aft hatch ready for disembarkation. The "Diggers Own" gave a concert on fore-head hatch at 6.30am. pretty decent. Played crib until bed time. Troops very noisy at bed time.

SATURDAY 8
Turned out 6.30am. Casky [?] & I make cup of tea, went up on deck & took our morning walk along decks until breakfast time. Beautiful sunshiny day, so I hope that it will continue so as up to yesterday the weather has been rotten since we took our departure from Cape Town. Up to 7am covered 226 mls. About 3pm one of the engines broken down. At 7pm it was fixed up she put along under full steam 12 knots per hour. Went up on deck after tea, very cold, so we soon came below again.
