SUNDAY 12 1st after Epiphany Went out to see Rose & George in the morning: Had dinner at Grafton Hotel, then caught 2.40 pm train to Codford where we arrived at 5 30pm! Very disappointed as there was no mail awaiting for me except one from Nina & Micky.

JANUARY 1919 MONDAY 13 Promoted to Sergeant 1/1/19. Paraded before C/O for AWL. fined £2: & reduced to ranks. Wrote letter to Hqers [?] General Cabling for £10 Letter 8 pages to Micky. Letter 3 pages to [Nina?].

TUESDAY 14 Jim paid back £1: balance left £2. Went over to N.Z camp, to clean up lines for '15 men; who are to concentrate to demobilizations. Handed in over seas boots. Commenced Educational class, Commercial course & English, handed in pay book. Wrote letter to Mater containing acct of X'mas leave. 15 pages.

JANUARY 1919 WEDNESDAY 15 9am-11am. bookeeping: bought Element Bookkeeping 1/1: & English Composition 2/5: Attended dentist during afternoon: Studied at night: Wrote letter to Marie 4 pages: Rec'd information of Education scheme: Jim paid back 10/- : Handed in tobacco list. Sgt. Watson reduced to ranks AWL

THURSDAY 16 Continued book keeping during morning: Received letter from Micky in morning's mails. Commenced English during afternoon. After tea we went dow Codford to Pictures.

JANUARY 1919 SUNDAY 19 2nd after Epiphany Church Parade in morning, letters in morning to Ella. During afternoon went for walk to Wylie [?]. After tea went down to CWR Hut. Lent Jack 4/- Draft for France cancelled for time being.

MONDAY 20 No parade during day. Washed in afternoon. Wrote letter to Bob. Draft warned to leave for France tomorrow.
