FEBRUARY 1919 MONDAY 10 Borrowed 2 Francs from Bob Linaker Bob and I went to Brussells Museum. We were shown through the Egyptian part- relics & mummies etc dating back to 3000 yrs B.C. One piece of ancient Brussels tapestry valued at 1,000.000 francs; Also momument of ancient Roman Emperor - Bronze; In afternoon went to Brusselss City. Bob had hot plunge and swim in pool: Piquet from 7pm - 11pm Wrote letter to Ina
TUESDAY 11 After breakfast visited Nurse Cavell's grave, also saw place where she was shot. Showed through Brussell's military barracks. Town ride in tram around Brussells for about 2 hours. With Nurse Cavell's grave were graves of numerous victims of the German occupation In afternoon visited Waterloo climbed momument where officer gave us account of battle at the same time pointing out places connected with the battle. 326 steps up to the top of memorial. Saw imitation panorama of battlefield very realistic, return to Club in time for tea. After tea went to YM where wrote letter to Mater, Ethel Nina: Mounted piquet at 8.30pm Borrowed 1 Franc off Bob.

FEBRUARY 1919 WEDNESDAY 12
Madrid Cafe raided raided by the Tommies and our picquets early hours of the morning. German prisoners disguised as Civilians caught. At 9 am party of us met guide, visited the following places: "Pissing Boy": Brusselles Cathedral: Houses of Parliament - shown through House of Lords, it was in the House of Lords that Nurse Cavell was tried. I sat in the chair where she sat at the trial: Visited the Brusselles Art Gallery, also the sculpture work: Building of Commerce" Hotel de Ville: the Houses of Justice, the most magnificent buildings that I have ever seen. Museum containing all the ancient weapons of war up to the modern ones: also visited the Colonne du Congress which we had climbed the previous Sunday. After dinner paid 40 Francs: Bob & I then went for stroll down the main commercial street. Paid Bob Linaker back 2 Francs. Letters to Bob, Micky.
THURSDAY 13 Took ride in tram around suburbs of Brussells: Got up to late to go out with guides; returned in time for dinner. After dinner Bob & I caught tram up to Bains Royale where we had a ripping Turkish Bath. Arrived back in time for tea. No mail arrived up to date while at Brussells. After tea visited Palais D'ete very good programme. 4.10 pm went on 2 hrs picquet: 9th & 10th [Battalion?] bands arrived Brusselles 6 pm. Letter to Marie from Charleroi.

FEBRUARY 1919 Friday 14 Remained in Cafe during morning. Visited Brussels Bazaar in afternoon. After tea went to Theatre Royal was good opera. Ret. to club where a dance was going, danced until early hrs of morn. Bought views of Brussels. Borrowed 1 franc from Bob

SATURDAY 15 Company went for hot bath in morning. During afternoon visited Bazaar, bought views returned to Estamina for afternoon tea: Party from 9th & 10th Battn arrived. Kimen [?], Sault, McDiarmid, Cpl Haas No mail at Battn for me. After tea went to Coliseum Picture Palace - good show. Had supper at corner estemina then turned in: Paid Bob back 1 Franc.

FEBRUARY 1919 Sunday 16 Septuagesima Went down to YMCA and wrote letters. Met H Harris & Behan. Bill & I took them out to Nurse Cavells grave in the afternoon: After tea again went to YMCA & wrote more letters. McDiarmid Kishlen [?] and Sault [?] Also Cpl Hors from our platoon.

MONDAY 17 Bob and I went over to Y.M.C.A., spent morning there. In afternoon went on piquet played poker until tea time. After tea took stroll down Bouvelard. At 11:30 pm raided brothels catured two Canadians dressed in Aussie uniforms exciting chase through Brussels.

FEBRUARY 1919 TUESDAY 18 Spent morning readind at YMCA. Took walk around Brussells in afternoon. After tea went to the Palais de ete.
Warned by O/C that we would be going back to Charleroi on Thursday.
WEDNESDAY 19 Had bath in Bain Royale. Took train to the chief canal running through Brussels Wrote letter to Mater.
