Last year I applied to Presidenet Jordan of the Stanford University for the position of French teacher, and was in reply promised the first appointment.

Having heard that since the death of Senator Stanford the control of the University has been placed in your hands, I wish to repeat the application, and inform you of my qualifications. "I have

a diploma from the French Academy and also a certificate from the public schools of San Francisco, where I taught seven years, besides first class references from private academies in this city.

If you would be so kind as to mention my name to Mrs Stanford I have no dout she will remember me, as I taught her son two years.
