Dear Helen:

I wrote you how we confis-
cated the beds I believe. Well on
Monday evening there occurred a trial
at which Mattie and Edith were the
plantiffs and Miss Kerr and I the
defendants. Maud Jones was the attor-
ney for the plaintiffs and Miss Stadt-
muller for the defense. Judge Dickenson
presided and Miss Kerr and I draped
in black, were brought before the
court. Miss Caldwell testified to
our good character, Miss Greggs tried
to prove an alibi and the attorney
spoke most eloquently, showing that
some one had played a foul trick on
us; but in spite of it all, in view
of the facts that Miss Herrick and
Miss Steffens testified to my having
confided the scheme to them and that
the bedding was found in our room
the jury brought in a verdict of guilty
