This Indenture made this sixteenth day of [...] in [...] Hardy Morgan of the County of Orange and State of North Carolina of the one part and the President & Trustees of the University of North Carolina of the other part. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the Sum of one hundred pounds current money to the said Hardy Morgan in hand paid by the said President & Trustees, the receipt whereof is hereby [...] acknowledged He the said Hardy Morgan doth hereby grant, bargain, sell [...][al]ien, convey & confirm unto the said President & Trustees of the University of North Carolina and to their succeſsors in office forever a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying & being in the County of Orange & State of North Carolina aforesaid on the Chapel hill adjoining the Land of [...][be]fore me[ntioned][...] University Beginning at a hickory [...] a [...]ading [...] Halifax [...]burgh running thence East (173) one hundred seventy three poles to a Hickory, thence North (148) one hundred forty eight poles to a Spanish Oak, thence West (75) Seventy five poles to a red oak on the side of a road, thence up the various [Courses] of said road as followeth South (29) twenty nine Degrees West (62) Sixty two poles [thence] S[outh][...] (45) for[ty five] Degrees West (80) Eighty poles thence South (29) twenty nine [...][Deg]rees W[est][...][(]36) thirty six poles to the first station containing [Eighty] Acres be the same more or less the same being part of a larger tract granted by John Earl Granville to Mark Morgan by Deed bearing date the

To have and to hold the above granted & bargained premisses to the President & Trustees of the University aforesaid their succeſsors in office forever together with all the Rights privilege & appurtenances thereunto belonging and the said Hardy Morgan doth hereby covenant & oblige himself his Heirs, Executor & administrators to Warrant and Defend the above bargained Premisses & the appurtances thereof to the President & Trustees aforesaid & their Succeſsors in office against the lawful claims of all Persons whatever. The house to be thirty feet by thirty six feet with a Cellar, and two storye high— of wood
