State of North Carolina Orange County

This Indenture between William M Cauley of the State and County aforesaid, of the one part, and the Trustees of the University of North Carolina of the other part Witnesseth, That for and in Consideration of of the sum of five shillings to him in hand paid before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt thereof is hereby fully acknowledged, and in further consideration of the many advantages arising to the State from the establishment of the said University, and the parti= =cular benefits that will redound to the County of Orange in consequence of its being fixed in the said County, he the said William M Cauley hath granted, bargain'd and sold, alien'd, convey'd and confirm'd to the said Trustees and their successors forever a certain tract or parcel of Land, lying in the County of Orange aforesaid, on the waters of Bolling's Creek, Beginning at a white Oak John Caldwell's Corner, running thence West one hundred poles to a red Oak, then South forty eight poles to a white Oak. then West twenty seven poles to a black Oak in Benjamin Yeargain's line, then North one hundred and sixty four poles to a red Oak, then East one hundred and twenty seven poles to a red Oak, then South one hundred and sixteen poles to the Beginning, containing one hundred acres more or less_

To have and to hold the said Tract of land with all the appurtenances, to the said Trustees and their Successors forever, for the benefit of the said University_

And the said William M Cauley hereby binds himself his Heirs, Executors and Administrators to warrant and forever defend the said Tract of Land with all its appurtenances to the ^ said ^ Trustees and their Successors forever, for the benefit of the said University, against the lawful claims of all persons whatever.

In Witness whereof, the said William M Cauley hath hereto set his hand and seal the 6th day of October 1796-

This Indenture between Benjamin Yeargain of the State & County aforesaid of the one part, and the Trustees of the University of North Carolina of the other part, Witnesseth that for and in consideration of five shillings to him in hand paid before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby fully acknowledged, and in further consideration of the many advantages arising to the State from the establishment of the said University, and the particular benefits that will redound to the County of Orange in consequence of this being fix'd in said County, he the said Benjamin Yeargain doth grant, bargain & sell, alien convey and confirm to the said Trustees and their successors forever the following tract or parcel of land lying in the County of Orange aforesaid, Beginning at a Red Oak on the west side of the Chapel Road, then West 113 Poles to a Hiccory, Barbees Corner, then South 153 poles to a White Oak, Barbees cor= -ner, then North 29 degrees East 63 poles along the Road, then north 45 degrees East, 80 poles, then north 29 degrees East to the Beginning, containing fifty acres more or less__ To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with all its appurtenances, to the said Trustees and their Successors forever_ And the said Benjamin Yeargain hereby binds himself his Heirs Executors and Administrators to warrant and forever defend the said tract or parcel of land with the appurtenances to the said Trustees and their Successors forever against the lawful claims of all persons whatever_

In Witness whereof, the said Benjamin Yeargain hath hereto set his hand and seal on the 6th day of October 1796

This Indenture between Thomas Connolly of the State and County aforesaid of the one part and the trustees of the University of North Carolina of the other part Witnesseth, That for and in consideration of the sum of five shillings to him in hand paid before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby fully acknow-ledged, and in further consideration of the many advantages arising to the State from the esta-blishment of the said University, and the particular benefits that will redound to the County of Orange in consequence of its being fixed in said County, he the said Thomas Connolly doth hereby grant, bargain sell, alien, convey and confirm to the said Trustees and their Successors for ever, the following tract or parcel of Land, lying in the County aforesaid, Beginning at a Hickory, running thence East 210 Poles to a red oak, thence North 30 poles to a Stake, thence West 290 poles to a Stake, thence South 136 poles to a Stake, then East 80 poles to a Stake, then North 136 poles to the first station, containing one hundred and seven acres-- To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of Land with all its appurtenances to the said Trustees and their Successors for ever -- And the said Thomas Connolly hereby binds himself his Heirs, Executors and Administrators to warrant and forever defend the said Tract or parcel ^ of Land^ with the appurtenances to the said Trustees and their Successors forever against the lawful claims of all persons whatever -- In Witness whereof, the said Thomas Connolly hath hereto set his hand & seal the 17th day of October 1796--------------------------------------------------------
