This Indenture between Alexander Piper of the State and County aforesaid, fo the one part, and the Trustees of the University of North Carolina of the other part, Witnesseth, That for and in consideration of the sum of five shipping to him in hand paid before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby fully acknowledged, and in further consideration fo the many advantages arising to the State from the esta-blishment of the said University, and the particular benefits that will redound to the County of Orange in consequence of its being fixed in said County, he the said Alexander Piper doth grant, bargin & sell, alien, convey & confirm to the said Trustees and their successors for ever, the follow tracts & parcel of land, lying in the County aforesaid, Beginning at a Post Oak James [??] Corner, running thence West 80 poles to a black Jack, then South 40 Poles to a black Jack, then East 80 poles to a black Jack, then North 40 poles to the beginning, {??] seventy Acres more or less __ To have and to hold [??] & tract or parcel [??] all the appurtenances to the said Trustees and their [??] Alexander Piper hereby binds himself his Heirts, [??] Trustees and their Successors forever against the lawful [??] hand and seal the 18th. day of October 1796

This Indenture between Hardy Morgan of the County & State aforesaid of the one part, and the Trustees of the University of North Carolina of the other part, Witnesseth, That for and in consideration of the sum of five shillings to him in hand paid before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby fully acknowledged, and in further consideration of the many advantages ari-ving to the State from the establishment of the said University, and the particular benefits that will redound to the County of Orange in consequence of its being fixed in said County, he the said Hardy Morgan doth hereby grant, bargain and sell, alien, convey and confirm to the said Trustees and their Successors forever, the following tract or parcel of land lying in the County of Orange aforesaid,
Beginning at a Hiccory Barbee's corner, running there East 82 poles to a Hiccory there North 60 poles to a Hiccory & Black Jack, then East 134 poles to a Post Oak, there South 82 poles to a Post Oak in John Morgan's line, then West 134 poles to a Sassafras, then South 90 poles to a white oak, the Old Chapel corner, then West 82 poles to a black Jack, Barbee's corner, then North 113 poles to the beginning --- containing one hundred and twenty five acres or thereabouts--- To have an to hold the said tract or parcel of land with all the appurtenances to the said Trustees and their Successors forever and the said Hardy Morgan doth hereby bind himself his Heirs, Executors and Administrators to warrant and forever dd-fend the said tract or parcel of land with the appurtenances to the said Trustees and their Successors forever against the lawful claims of all persons whatever--
In Witness whereof, the said Hardy Morgan hath hereto set his hand and seal the twenty first day of October 1796.
