My dear Sir,
Your favour of the 1st Inst enclosing a power of Attorney on behalf of the University appointing me County Escheator for the Counties of [Burke?] and McDowell has been recieved.
I accept the trust confided in me by the Power of Atto', & shall make the necessary investigations at an early day - will supervise the interests of the University during the year and report at the [?] designated in the ordinance.
