quently engrossed two small bills ofone page each, "An Act authorizing the taxation of dogs." Sent them to Powell as soon as I could engross them -- He had them in hand by 2 1/2 PM -- Evening about town some -- Home at 10 -- wrote some & slept some -- Wrote some more and didn't get to bed till 5 1/2 oclock -- Sat for my photo again yesterday AM to suit the operator, & saw "proof" of it today, good enough -- Got $5 from Hock Mason this AM -- Wallace of Eureka called on me yesterday PM,

Pass to & from Ogden

and he gave passes to Ogden & back, over the C.P. in case I wish to go -- good for, or until July 1st --

Heavily Engrossed

Sunday March 1, 1885

Clear warm delightful Spring day -- Slept till 8 1/2 -- Took the new military bill down to Col A C Ellis' office & gave it to a young man named Reeves or Rives to engross -- 56 pages closely written -- Gave Miss Snyder a few pages more of the Educational Bill -- 21 pages in all -- Sheriff Christler met me & we took a little turn about town -- went to stable, hitched up his horse & buggy & took me out to ride around the outskirts of town at north end -- delightful -- PM I was about town & attending the engrossing helpers -- By the evening train mail I sent letter to wife, & also Billy Gibson, Austin -- Tonight I engrossed 2 more bills Senate Bill No 44, "An Act to regulate the charges of carrying or transporting passengers by Inter-State railroads within the State of Nevada, and prescribing penalties for
