In the Probate Court for said County

In the matter of the Estate of President Brigham Young decd.

Petition for special Letters of Administration

To the Hon. Elias Smith, Probate Judge for said County.

Your petitioners George Q. Cannon, Brigham Young and Albert Carrington, respectfully represent that President Brigham Young, departed this life on the 29th day of August, 1877, in Salt Lake City in said County; That the said deceased left a will bearing date Nov. 14, 1873, which has this day been filed by us, in the office of this County, together with codicils to the same, with a petition that it be admitted to probate, and Letters Testamentary thereon issue to your petitioners who are named therein as the Executors thereof

That the property of said estate is situated not only in Salt Lake County but in several other Counties in this Territory, and elsewhere and much of it is in such condition that it will be liable to suffer waste and become depreciated in value if immediate care be not taken thereof, And there are also matters of business connected with said estate that require prompt attention And inasmuch that some considerable time must elapse, under the circumstances

which exist, before the said will can be admitted to probate and Letters Testamentary issued thereon

We therefore ask that Special Letters of Administration be granted to your petitioners, with full power and authority to collect, and preserve all the goods, chattels, debts, and effects of the deceased and generally to do any and every act necessary to be done in the premises in order to preserve from damage, waste and injury, the goods, chattels, effects and estate of the said deceased, until the said will shall be admitted to probate and Letters Testamentary issued thereon.
