19th Still raining, shoemaking for Cate making brooms & spining ———

20. Rained all day long till about night

21 Rained all day long

22nd cleared off & I went to Court Spining shoemaking & firing tobacco

23rd clear & fair shoemaking spining ground too wet to plow yet firing 2 BarnsTobacco put up our Fattening Hogs or Pigs as they are small. 19 or 21 in number — Went to Mr Hunts [unclear] & Mrs Hunts etc

24 clear & fair, Plowing for wheat cutting down corn Fed Halling wood firing Tobacco Killed mutton.

25. Sewing wheat etc etc On Hill Side by middle barn in big field -

26 Halling up corn & seeding wheat wrote to Mr E. D Johns and Robt Harris about money Due Estate of Jer. McCullock Decsd this day sent Letters to both of them also to Mrs Mary P McCullock widow of Jas McCullock Hawk Point P.O. Lincoln cty MO & to Mr Francis McCullock on same subject

27 Digging Potatoes till 12 oclock the 2 Plows went to Plowing for wheat & got up 3 Loads corn & put stack fodder in House —

28 prayer meeting warm weather

29 Rained all night spining Mr Lewis spayed 7 hogs for me - Shoemaking & firing Tobacco -

30. Fair & windy shoemaking senting Henry alse & ann to shop after Plows & wheel Expect to Hall up leaves to day spining.

31 Turned out 19th 3 sows 16 shoats etc shoemaking spining Raking & Halling leaves, -clear & fair, - - -

Novr 1st Dined at Mr Lewis Sewing wheat left side Path at middle Barn

1852 Feby 12th Yesterday it Rained in morning & in evening. Turned off quite cool to day We have 10 lambs to this day & 1 calf Halled leaves in all our Barn to day — etc. We have striped but little Tobacco yet Jacob & Jerry Started to School last Monday the 9th Feby 1852

17th Since the 12th we have been plowing Halling wood malling in little new ground near new ground barn, fencing in fresh ground & began to mall here at home not striped much tobacco yet weather fine for time of year. nearly done plowing flat land for Corn Bedded a good deal for Corn next to Orchard, also flushed some next to middle barn, - waggon & Cart Halling Rails from fresh ground and around corn fields next to middle Barn, Shrubing fence Row Pilling wood in new ground here at home we have 13 Lambs to this day lost One -

19th Planted Irish Potatoes in hog pen by spring yesterday began to Plow in fresh ground Rolled Logs by fresh ground in little new ground & burning them to day & Plowing out there Federick malling in new ground by house cloudy & like for falling weather, not very cold

24. Some Rain in a few days past help Mr Lewis Ephrain & Parham & also at Mr Fitzgerald Plantation This week, we are Plowing Halling wood Out little new ground, this is a very pretty dayMy wife & Lila, & several of the children complaining. Sallie sick at last Strait Stone meeting say Feby- — 1852 We have 14 or 15 Lambs to this day & only 1 calf

March 2nd Rained Friday & saturday did not Plow much, latter part last week striped all the Tobacco we had down in prize Barn

1852 aprl 9th Finished laying off 1 way fresh ground for Corn Jordan coltering Balance Hilling, there till 12 oclock, then we sewed flax at overseers House, Planted Sweet Potatoe Patch this evening = aprl 10th Halling wood waggon & Cart till 10 oclock my wife Fannie W & Child & Cate went to CH

12th Rained Sunday & monday so much that my family did not return till Tuesday morning stay at Mr Johns all night

13th Striping Tobacco in new Barn back garden

14. Laying off left side of Path by middle barn & fencing around Corn field fence & finished

15. Rained hard last night Sent 4 Bushels Corn to mill yesterday & this morning for meal Shelled 3 bushels Corn to Plant Planted Irish Potatoes by Henrys old House & began to Plant Corn this Evening right side of Path by middle barn late in the evening — — Henry & Lila laying off Mrs Neal very sick Doct Walkup thinks from taking Laudanum Grased my wheat on mountain by Hesterto day - till yet Grazing my Rye Lot - by her[e] —

16th A fine day we are planting corn & laying off Borrowed of EG Lewis 4½ quarts sats. lost 2 old Sheep lately — — Bets calf a Bull calf little over one week old now

20 It has been raining every day & night1852 since last Saturday this is Tuesday & still cloudy & Rainy, we have planted but little corn, Striping Tobacco in new Barn back garden & trying to Finish but cant, do itquite Wind N.W. quite cool bad on stock

21. Finished striping Tobacco about 8 oclock Halled wood Turned out Lug Hhd Tobacco uncover =ed mountain & one below fresh ground plant Beds Rained a little to day, & cleared off cool

1853 Febr 10 Henry Jordan & Sandy Plowing Jacob malling malissa Picking [G?] Kitty fencing alse shelling corn fine weather,

11th Fencing Plowing malling & Halling wood, sent for my new wagon body Sent 2 Large cow skins & 1 kip skin to Mr E Lewis to carry to Doss s Tanyard to Tan at Green field, & we have also 2 large skin cow sent to Jefferson & Reeses Leesville

12 Malling & cutting wood to burn Plant Bed Plowing & Haling wood – fine weather

13 Fine day windy in evening & cooler

14th malling Fencing & Plowing this day quite cool this day —

15. my wife gone to Mrs Hunts to night Burnt & sewed Plant Bed above House & got done by night Jordan & sandy Plowing Raining at night a little & Hailing,

16 Striping tobacco in prize Barn Raining,-

17th Jacob & Lowry halling wood for Mr Neal Henry Fed & Sandy malling Balance fencing around Johns field, cleared off & fine morning not very cold,- my wife not got back yet —

18th Jacob & Fed malling 3 Plows running. Balance fencing, cloudy & like for falling weather I went to Capt Gilberts.-

19th Striping Tobacco in prize Barn Rained in morning & then Snowing till night disperate day very cold, indeed no wood

20th cleared off & fine morning –

21st went CH & striped Tobacco —

22nd Jacob gone to Farris Mill 2 Bus wheat forflour Balance all Halling leaves cloudy & like for Rain began to Rain about night & Rained all night

23rd Striped Tobacco in prize Barn etc etc

24th Fencing & malling alse Swingling flax very cold & windy —

1853 March 6th On Friday last it snowed Smartly till 10 Oclock we were striping Tobacco We have had only 3 Small Snows this winter no Lambs or calves yet – still very cold Jacob & Cate gone to Rices to day Halled wood yesterday ½ day – —

7 Plowing till 12 Oclock then trod out oats cutting down stacks malling & cutting wood in new ground - fine weather — Sent alse to Shop with Plow —

8 Treading out 2 stacks oats more to day Plowed this morning making new ground fence & malling wood & Rails like for Rain weather moderate

9th Halled Rails around Corn field fence finished new ground fence & sent to shop

10th upset fair part of fence next to Mr E. Lewis malled Piled wood etc Began to sew Oats, sewed nearly 5 Bus. Cate & myself went to Mrs Thompsons Henry & Fed sawed shingles Blocks Prizing Hhd Lugs this day etc —

11th Rained this morning put manure on Plant Bed above House prizing Lugs got Hhd about full, striping Tobacco Rolled some of our Logs this evening 5 Heaps the other side of Johns Branch,- cleared off

12th Turned Out Hhd Lugs Sewed Oats Halled wood Run fence at Tobacco Lot, cut stalks & Raked Some fine day – – –

13 Went to meeting at S. Stone fine day

14th Sewed Oats malled & Cut Corn Stalks etc

15 Sent Henry to D Millers to Roll Logs Sewing Oats, & working in Garden Planted onions Potatoes & Peas, etc -

16 Halled wood Plowing for oats etc Set up Hoghd to day upsetting Tobacco Lot fence fine weather Fanny while here
