1846 July 30 Rained quite hard last night beeting apples - 30 Succoring Tobacco & worming began to Hill up lots for the last time Sewed Turnip Patch & also in lot by Tobacco House

31st Getting up apples this day –

August 1st Plowing & finishing hilling up Lot by prize Barn & Beeting apples this

2nd Sunday & cloudy but no rain

3rd cloudy this morning Toping worming & Succoring Tobacco this morning Sent Henry Clay to Mrs Hunt to go Lynchg alse Drying apples this morning —

4th Getting up apples to Beet to day Fair & beautiful weather

5 Working Tobacco Lots by & above Granary

6 Beeting apples & finishing lots

7 Plowing & Hilling up Branch Tobacco

8 Went after Mr JD & CA Hunts Still & working as Friday & done on Branch yet

9th Weather dry & Hot corn begins to suffer a little for Rain —

10 Finishing hilling up Tobacco on branch Henry gone back to Mr Hunts after still worm & tub etc little shower of rain at Mrs Hunts yesterday a little here last night after we got home weather dry & very warm, began to dry peaches this morning

11 Worming & succoring tobacco

13 Went to see Capt Coleman & he Died about 9 or 10 Oclock in morning

17th Sept⁴⁷ Began to Cutt Tobacco on Johns Branch wednesday evening 15th now Cutting on Spring Branch put up seven stacks fodder & some in house Went to Lynchg Last week & carried 27 ^B 24 lbs wheat & 1½ Bus Corn very wet time, sold wheat for 90¢ corn for 55¢

27 Since the Seventeenth we have finished our Blade fodder, 12 stacks 9 Double 3 Single & finished this morning finished cutting Tops Cured 600 Hundred Stacks Tobacco in prize Barn & Expect to begin to Lot Tobacco this evening, Several of our family have been sick, Jerry sick at this time Doct Thompson has been one visit & 2 Call visits to see him, Now he is mending - Thanks be God Weather warm & no frost yet, -Great deal of Tobacco to cut last week Talton worked on chimney 2½ or nearly

28 Cut Lot Tobacco 400 stacks - & this day Halling Tobacco in middle Barn & firing new ground & succoring Mr or Elder Joel Hubbards trial at Rices Meeting House this day

Oct 1st Weather warm Cured nearly 3 Houses ^{800 sticks in middle barn} Tobacco & have Cut all but Lot & new ground clean -

Oct 2nd Halling up & stacking Top fodder gathering Beans Peas & snap seed, etc etc, carried the 1st of this week 2 Bbls Corn to mill for meal my wife gone to Mrs Hunts Jerry better

Oct. 2nd weather good & began to stack our tops this 3rd likely for Rain

Cartersville etc & arrived home Saturday night after dark^{the 13th Nov}& found all well & doing ^{staying at Mr Overbys all night}well being from home about 3 weeks. Sewed 19 or 20 Bushels wheat in Johns’s field ^{& all} while we were gone^{sewed 6 Bus.}, Our friend Mr John G Lewis attended to our business while we were absent all the little growth cut in our new ground

15th began to get up Our Corn —

24th Rained all night last night & most of the day yesterday. Striping Tobacco & shoe making - Killed a Beef Harry monday

22nd Let Mr. Myers have 81 lbs weighed about 375 lbs have not finished our corn yet —

Dec 1st Rained to day & nearly Halled up all Our Corn - Shoemaking & Spining etc etc —————

2nd Rained all night & this morning Striping Tobacco & shoemaking

Dec 6 Last Friday 3rd Fed went to shoemaking at Mrs Hunt shucking & Housing our corn & finished this day & began to put up Our Turnips

8. Killed 6 Hogs this day & began to cut big growth in new ground & Grubbing & Halling wood

11 Striping Tobacco, been cutting big growth in new ground 2 days [unclear]. weather warm, & cloudy let Mr. Crews have ½ Bus. salt for 100 lbs fodder to salt his Pork

1847 Dec. 16th Striping Tobacco - this morning. sent Colo Dickinson for toll wheat for machining 5 Bushels white wheat. Made 99½ Bushels began to snow in the evening & continued till sometime in the might. Snow 8 or 9 Inches Deep where it has not melted

17th striping Tobacco in middle barn expect to finished by 11 oclock - to day weather not very cold, still cloudy

21. began to snow again last night about 11 oclock & snowing yet this morning. about 3 or 4 Inches Deep this morning. no Tobacco down doing but little

22nd Snow from 6 to 8 Inch Deep Swingling flax shoemaking & spining.

24 Shoemaking & spining shelling corn Started Henry & Jacob after Catharine Spiller at Mrs Clarks, come home in night

Snowed a little last night but this morning clear & Cold — ReC from Mr. Strickland, Misses Albrights Shernerd etc agent $136 for Hire of Joe & John 1847 tho this Bond was only for $126 they pd. us more because they pd others more, & I this day pd the $136 to Mrs Coleman at Mrs Hunts ——etc——yesterday—

30 Killed Hogs this morning Sent Fed to shop with Cart alse & Ann shrubbing for corn -
