1845. March 26 Sewed Plant Bed over on the Branch this day - weather has been very cold for more than a week. 1845 Our new ground nearly half coltered

28 Went to saw mill paid off Mr Miller in full to the 30¢ in my Debt
31 weather moderate Stripping Tobacco & hope to finish this day & prizing Lugs Yesterday our new ground fence got burnt say 40 pannels fire got out from our new ground Saturday
29th monstrous fire in the woods towards good Hope gathered a good many hands & stopped it. done no mischief
30. Fire at new ground & burnt 40 panels fence entirely for me
April 3rd Finished coltering new ground this day - Plowing for corn Planted snaps and corn in Garden
2nd April, 4th planted snaps, cucumbers & simlings in garden etc etc weather dry & warm at this time
8 April commenced making new ground Tobacco Hills still for Corn ground hard and very cool every thing Kill allmost Killed this morning 9th April 1845 Smart - Ice in places

1845 Sept 23. Cutting Tobacco, 24th cutting Tobacco in second years ground & new Do

26 Housing Tobacco this morning & then for stacking Tops
27 Stacking Tops this day -- began yesterday - Light crop of Tops this year —
29 Finished stacking Tops
30 treading out white wheat to sow & succoring Tobacco
Oct. 1st Sewed Tobacco Lot on Branch 1845 in wheat by the Bridge sewed 1/2 Bushel & cuttingon mountaindown corn
2nd Cutting down corn in mountain field & Henry Halling logs to Millers mill
3 cart broke down & axeletree made by abbot at meeting House this year alse getting out flax seed & spreading flax Balance Jinking Tobacco House Wrote to Jas. D. Moon this day etc etc
6 cutting Tobacco etc etc housing new axletree made by Mr Myer & old Irons put on by him sent 39 lbs seed cotton to Millers Mill
7 Halling up & Housing Tobacco
8 Put up Hogs Pulling corn & cutting trough to feed Hogs getting up 2 Lots Corn at Home Fine rain Last night ——
9. Wet weather 10th still raining

October 31 - November 13, 1846
1846 Oct 31. Raining nearly all day
Novr 1st drizling rain nearly all day — 2. ground too wet to Plow Fed sho emaking. Henry gone to saw & Gras[ty] mill cleaning out stables & spining
3. Henry carried another large stack to saw mill Fed shoemaking Lila spins alse & Ann fencing etc etc wrote to Mr Dove to saw the Log sent yesterday into Hhd Heading & the one carried this day into flooringPlank out of the Hhd Heading I am to return Mr Dove 74 feet of the same sort lent Spring
4th Sent to Saw mill & Gras[ty] Mill to day
5 Plowing up Land for wheat
6 Plowing up land for Do
7 Raining a little nearly all day Henry went to shop & Mr. Wm Dews
8 Still cloudy Fed & Henry1 or 2 days this weekshoemaking this evening it cleared off Just before sun down
9th Sent another good size log wrote to Mr Dove to saw it intofull¾ squared Plankedges
10. Sent 2 Logs to saw mill this [da]y wrote to Mr Dove to saw first card into weatherboarding & next into squared edged Plank getting anext [skirting?] on sides — Fed shoemaking began to Grub in new ground yesterday & at it to day —
11 Plowing & Bushing inn wheat in Big field & Halling Stalks etc
12 Bushing & Plowing in wheat in big field Choping round stumps & etc etc etc Put up Steer mark, to fatten several days ago
13th nearly done the square by middle laid off first to sew in wheat & choped round the stumps etc etc
November 13 - December 10, 1846
1846 Nov 13th The weather has been & is still cloudy for nearly 2 weeks tho has not rained much this week - quite warm last night or this morning killed 2 small Fat Hogs - - done shoemaking Sewed about 15 Bushels wheat to this day
18 Weather yet Warm Finished this day sewingin Lot by prize barnwheat served about 20 Bus.
19th This morning Raining pulled corn yesterday ½ the day & its now on the ground - weather yet warm fine for wheat coming up shelling corn & striping Tobacco ——prize barn
card a stack to Millers millDecemr 1st Finished housing corn & we have been grubbing & cutting for several days Started to Milton this day after Fanny White - gone 3 days & got home
3rd got home about 9 oclock this night, Henry sick when I got home
4 Grubbing & cutting in new ground, Mr. Lewis yet sick,
6 Striping Tobacco in prize barn Henrysickyet Began to Rain yesterday morning & Raining this morning. very wet indeed Settled with James D Moon 30th Nov & took his rec in full of all claims to date Killed all our Hogs 23rd Nov 1846. Sent another Log to saw mill & wrote to saw it into weather boarding 30 Nov 46

18. Same striping Tobacco — Sent waggon & cart to saw & Gras[ty] Mills, short Log to be sawed into Hhd heading & the other into Hhds staves.

27 cloudy this morning but not cold all of us went to Mrs Hunts Saturday in Christmas a fine day
