11th I went down to Plantation monday Henry went to Millers Mill got all my plank there, we have one Log at Yates

12th Began to Plow finished stilling only made last time about 15 Galls Sent Bob to Yates to get my Buggy mended Cutting Pines etc in old field to day – 3½ Gallons Brandy in runlet for FWF Cider Turned out very little - apples rotten The mare I Bot for Mr Hunts Est Died sometime the 1st of the fall

13 I went to Chalk Level to see Capt Tate but did not see him, got Blankets etc for myself & Est JD Hunt Due Henry went after waggon to move Mr Doss Plowing here rounding & Jointing Shingles Cutting down Pines Bob gone to Hubbards after corn for Rent

14 Gave Out negroes Blankets LittleBig Henry Smith claiborne & Clementina Milly Ann hadRhoda had one too one in house here, Malissa Abram & Kitty at Plantation aspen Grove Little Henry Had a Hat, here & Lowry & Sandy at Plantation cold sure enough to night

15th. Snowed last night & till after 12 Oclock to day nearly ½ leg deep Sent Henry & claiborne after my Pigs got some of them Capt Tate & Jerry come here to day & Jerry went to Mrs Worshams to get his coat cut & made Bybee come to see about Plank Jerry staid all night still very cold & cloudy

16 at home all day cold snow near one foot Deep melted but little

17th. getting wood Bob has not been here more than one day in 10 days. halling

1861 March 20th Mr Chumney clem & Smith in new ground at work, Bob claiborne & Henry (little) gone to Plantation to finished Rolling logs Henry halled 1 Large Log Hart to Millers 15 feet long for Palings, & come back & we shelled out 15 Bushel Corn & carried it to whiteheads mill 2½ of which for overseers; we will carry another Log hart for sawing the one carried to day 20 Lambs there to day cool day snow gone Henry is to bring from mill 2½ Bus meal

21st Bob has gone after Mrs Hunt she has been at the CH about 2 months We are halling wood & Rails to day out of new ground & at work there cleaning up Claiborne gone to Mr Kelleys to Roll logs. I have down to day to work on my road

22 overseer went to aspen Grove & fix chimney claiborne Halled rails Henry halled wood in morning ground sewed over Plant Beds here to dayhard frozen, cleaning up in new ground they went to sewing oats & finished next to whiteheads; Mrs Hunt Came home in evening - fine day -

23rd Sent Sally her Box of clothes by mail Cart. Ferguson carried it letter etc I went to old place Mr Miller got a Barrel of Cider - Doct Thompsons store Our folks Sewing oats in Peach orchard Balance fencing & Halling out wood.

24th I went to Prayer meeting to day

25 I went to Capt Fitzgeralds with Fannie & settled with him for her to day & went to Riceville - Sewing Oats & fencing & cleaning off new ground here to day. Sewed over Plant Beds last week, weather moderate now

26th Halling rails out of new ground & about done Piling wood Sewing Oats etc upper Lot Bob [trim] up apple & Peach trees, etc

12th Sallie & me went to meeting SS

13th E. H Doss left Plantation soon Saturday morning somebody told me he left Friday evening & gone way over in campbell, for which I charge him $5.00 Covering our Carriage House here coltering & Hilling Second years ground, I went to Aspen Grove Likely for Rain about his time corn Seems to come up badly fleas has eat the Tobacco plants very much wheat looks tolerable

14th Took down our Lugs here this morning, finishing covering Carriage House, Hilling fresh ground Plowing up for corn on Low grounds to day

15 Jacob P Graves gone on to CH to Start to war it with old Lincoln, great confusion in Our Country every thing unsettled Sent Henry to Aspen Grove & claiborne to Hall Logs We are Planting Corn this morning a little ps on Low ground, cutting slate tree fixing Scare Crows Hilling in second yrs ground, Nannie going to CH to day

16th Henry Halling Logs from aspen Grove vz 1 Large one Hart to pay for palings sawed 2 for weatherboarding & 17th Halling again &

17th Halled up stack Oats & fodder this day Carried 12½ Bus. corn for meal & 2½ for overseer here & halling Logs – again here Hilling yesterday & to day Halled 5 good Hart Long Logs to Millers for weatherboarding & halled 1 Big one to pay for palings besides the 5. Chumbly went to Chalk Level to day, Hilling Henry began to Plow Corn, replanting corn this evening – cloudy & cool

1861 May 31st Chumney taken Sick yesterday taking Physic, working out his Potatoes etc this morning,- Henry Harrowing his Corn- Cutting off Tobacco Hills to plant Tobacco cloudy & like for rain, Sent 1 Colter to pint to yates shop they shod Hester Phil & Robin & steeled 2 H Hoes - this year

June 1st Cloudy & like for Rain, began to Plow on Creek yesterday, Bob finished Paling yesterday - Plowing & weeding Corn on Creek to day - chumney not out yet

2nd Sunday Clear fine day Mrs Hunt went to Mrs Colemans yesterday with her home Nannie & me went to Green field meeting I came back & went to Strait Stone at 3 Oclock nobody there at Prayer meeting - Raining a little in evening Mr Dallas staid here last night

3rd Plowing & weeding Corn on Creek Fine rain this evening planted some Tobacco on road, fine growing night

4th Planting Tobacco to day fine season Finished another new ground here in old field replanted greens etc etc

5th cloudy this morning sent to mill for Chumney thining our Corn & I am going down to Plantation this morning

6th Rained some last night. Henry bro’t 1 Load of weather boarding last night from Millers, carried 1 Log for weather boarding & sheeting & card 1 Bbl corn for meal, finished thinning corn & working out Garden Mrs Hunt came back yesterday & Bob here this morning Digging Hole & working on yard [faded] & weeding Corn on Creek

1865 Decr 20th. Moved to [torn corner] Grove from Cedar Hill this day = family except Smith came here to live weight of Jordens & Sandys Blade fodder Jerrys takes & settles with them for I take fodder here & he takes it at Ceder Hill

Jordens & Sandys pt Sorghum 436 Lowry & Abram pt Sorghum & Some Sorrys Blades 360 H[?] Crab grass 90 lbs

1866 Janry 11th. Seven negroes thu[damaged] lived here, Jorden Sandy Buck & Lowry 1 Barrel Corn a ps went to Cedar Hill & shucked it to day & give Jerry nearly 2 Barrels more

1872 July 27th 1 G Hoe 1 H Hoe 1 frow X Cut Saw 1 Auger 1874

1866 Sept. 13th Days that Dick & Alex, worked in My Plant [damage] of Logs halled [illegible] Pulling fodder 1 day now, from 10 Oclock till night. - 14th Both pulled fodder all day 1 ps upper leather pr Alex Entered on Book

1866 Augt 7th Carried 1 Log 10 feet Long to Miller Mill to saw

1866 9th Augt Carried 1 Log to Yates 11 feet for Hhd staves to day

10th Carrd one 8 feet Long for Plank for Hen house, carried another same length same day making 3 at Millers & 1 at Yates to this 11th Augt 1866,

14th Carried another to Yates 11 feet long for Hhds staves by Henry little or young & he brot hind wheels home

15 Carried another 14 feet long Millers for Covering -Carried another same day for same purpose 16th augt Carried another for Planking sides

Began to Sew Oats 6th March 1866 Sewed — 1½ Bus.

1866 Augt 18th Sent 1 Log to Millers to pay for sawing 1 for Sept 3rd Card 2 more large ones & will all 3 not sawed yet 5 Carried 1 more to saw & divide [illegible] now to to saw.
