To make surfeit Water.

Take 3 gallons of the best Brandy, speck of popies, of Elderflowers Spearmint, Balmagremony, thyme, Sweet Marjoram, rue, bettony, Suthechrod, Isson, & penny royal of each 1 handfull 2 bunches of Marigold, pic't. 2 pennyworth of Angelica 4 pennyworth of Dragon, burridge, & Bugloss flowers of each 1 pint, 12 pennyworth of rossa Solis Cardanium & parriway seed of each one ounce long pepper coriander seed, anniseed, mace cloves, & Cinnamon of each 1/2 an Ounces 1 tt. of New figs, 1 tt of seasons in the Sun Ston'd & Ounces of Venice Treacle, put these into your brandy, begin in May & Cover it and[crossed out] close till the latterend of July, or the beginning of August, thern Strain it off, Squeese thereby very dry, & Sweeten it w[superscript]th Sugar to your pallet you must use the Stalks of the Angelica & Dragon & no other Stalks, the less you handle [illegible] rosa Solis the better only cut of [???] Dirty roots

To Cure any fresh wound in man or Beast

Make Tinder and qunch [inserted about] it in good Oyle then put it to the wound, never take the tinder off, but apply fresh as often as you think fit, and when the Cure is done all will come clear off without any fear.

To cure any old sore or Swelling

Alder Leaves Stewed well in May Butter, and put them into a bag and applied to the sore, in few hours it may be repeated, you will find innumerable livings creatures on the bag repeat this as often as you see cause for for the Same sore young puppys flit down the back alive cut of their heads and throw away the Entrails then put the puppy warm to the wound or Swelling it also produces living Worms of Divers Sorts in 4 hours these things Lady Stonehouse has frequently tried and always suffesfull.

The Rupture plaister.

Adhernam Oxacrocium of each 1/2 an ounce Gum Arabick, one dram Buogani pitch 2 drams, melt them together, and mix them well and Spread it on velvet, put in the Rupture, and put this on to keep it up.

Bitter Drops

A pint of Brandy one ounce of gentian root 1/4 of an ounce of snakeroot 3 Sprigs of Roman wormwood the Rinds of 3 Oranges Sevil, as much Cochineal as will lye upon a 1/2 Crown let them Steep 3 days then Strain thro a fine sive and put it into a bottle.

A Strengthening Water.

Take the whites of 30 eggs and Whisk them up very well then take a gallon of Mlik from the Cow, then mix the milk and the whites of the eggs together with a whisk, and put it into a Cold Still with a good handfull of Cinnamon broke in little pieces [???] draw of 3 quarts very good. Take half a pint in the morning fasting another half pint about five in the Afternoon, another half pint at night going to bed, you may [illegible] a lump of loaf Sugar in your Glass if you like it if not you make take it without

Syrup of Snails.

Take garden snails early in the morning whilst the dews is upon them [illegible] take off their shells and slit them and w[superscript]th a [illegible] of fine Sugar put into a bag. hang them in a Cellar. and the Syrup pwill melt and drop thro which keep for use.

A receipt for a Consumption or hoarness upon the Lungs.

Take 2 quarts of garden Snails and boyl them in 2 q[superscript]ts. of Spring water till tis con[illegible] to one quart, then strain it off, and add 10 'd of Maiden haer Colts foot, hoarhound each one handfull, of Liquorish figs, & Riasins stoned of each 2 ounces, of anniseeds one ounce boyl'd about half an hour, then strain it again, them put in half a pint of the best Malaga Pack[?], and half a pound of brown Sugar Candy, let it not boyle, but mae it so hot as to dissolve the Candy & make it a Syrup, then take 3 or 4 Spoonfulls warm 4 or 5 times a day if Suspect to a looseness add redrose leaves that are dried a little hand full to the Syrrup when boyld with the other things.

Steel Wine.

Take filings of Steel an ounce, Saffron in powd 2 drams. mountain wine a pint, let them stand in infusion 8 days. frequently shaking them then filter and keep for use. the glass must always have a little vent when shook, else it will be in danger of bursting. to be taken 2 or 3 spoonfulls once or twice a day when the Stomach is most empty the more exercise is used with it the more good it will do. Viper Wine Take of dry'd Vipers cut into pieces No 6. digest them 3 days in a gentle heat in a quart of Canary, then strain of the Wine for use.

Tinture of Rhubarb.

Take of Rhubarb an ounce and 1/2 Sliced thin of the Lesser Cardamon Seeds. and Saffron of each 2 drams, of liquorish roots sliced 1/2 an ounce of french brandy a pint and make into a Tincture 412. gumsy

Elixer against Asthmas

Take honey and liquorish root, of each 4 ounces, flowers of benjamin and opium of each a dram, camphire 2 feruples. oil of anniseed 1/2 a dram, Salt of Tartar an ounce. Spirit of wine rectifyed [torn] digest them al together for some weeks [torn] Vessel often then strain and fuller [torn]

[torn] water or Canary. [torn] five to 20 drops

Take as much B[covered] & put it into four spoonfulls of [covered] the nipple with it made as warm [covered] before the Child sucks, & again after [covered]

I beleive it may be used with a feather [covered] mouth that do's not suck
