as I get cleared up financially I am going to try to find something more practical and less expensive.
I see George about once in 2 weeks but other than that no one counts. If I made all the dates I am asked for I would be pretty busy tho. Well, bye now and hope to see you soon.

REFORMATORY FOR WOMEN JUNE 16 1943 FRAMINGHAM
Dear Dr. Van Waters:
I have wanted to write to you for so long, but I really had nothing to tell you except how much I miss you and all of Framingham. I would love to come up during the week some [^What is day off] night after work, but the train is not until 3:35 A.M. and that is too late yes^. I am going to find out where the last bus goes as some nights I get through at ^[too late] 12.
I still like my job very much tho it has set me back a bit financially as I had to buy 2 new white dresses and shoes for summer wear which I had not planned on. I have also

had to join the Union ^good which was another $5. But now I am pretty well caught up and hope to be able to begin to save.
I bought 2 sets of pastel colored dishes for my little table ^nice last week and every time I use them I think of Hill-Top.
I have seen George only once since I was up to Framingham, this past Sunday in fact, and we had a very congenial evening. No misunderstandings! [^good]
I was very sick last Thurs. night. Had to have the doctor [^sorry] at 3.30 A.M. It was one of those spells, but a bad one, thought I was O.K. the next day. It was different than any I had had before, so it may have been [?] poisoning as the Dr. said.
I do hope you are well and all the others dear to you and I miss you all so much.
Respectfully,
Barbara

Dear Dr. Van Waters:
I received your lovely letter and it gave me a great deal of pleasure to read and re-read it I feel fine now and hope you and your family are also well.
I have not made any plans for a vacation, as the word is usually defined, as I cannot afford such a luxury. The only thing I do know is that if I haven't moved from here by then, I will do so then. The rent is too high for one person. I want a place where I can have a stove + ice-box, and a real bed. I started a savings account today.
P.S I got a $20. tip last week! Once in a life-time!
