Chocolate Cake

2/3-1 c. shortening 2-3 c. sugar 2-3 eggs 4-6 sq. chocolate 2 2/3 - 4 c. flour 2 - 3 t. B.P. 1/2 - 3/4 t. Salt 2 - 3 t. soda 2-3 c. boiling water 2 -3 t. vanilla

Frosting

1 egg white dash salt

1/2 c. corn syrup or honey

Beat 4 min. Add 1/2 t. vanilla

Spice Cake

1/2 c. shortening 2 1/4 c. sugar 3 eggs 1 1/2 c. sour milk 1 1/2 t. soda 1 1/2 t. cinamon 3/4 t. cloves 3/4 t. nutmeg 1 t. salt 3 c. flour 1/2 t. allspice

Sift soda and spices with flour. Cream shortening and sugar. Add sour milk, then flour. Fold in beaten egg whites.
