June 10 1865 Sir, I return the papers which you sumitted with your report of the 22nd ultimo [May 22nd], concerning certain disallowance by the Indian Bureau, in teh accounts of Redick Mr. Kee, Esquire late Commisioners and Agent in California. I have considered the subject, and have to direct that, in settling Mr. M Kee's accounts, you will credit him with all items allowed by Commisioner Many [penny?], and none other: you will not credit him with any item suspended, in which no additional proof has been, service, received, and you will re-examine all suspended items in relation to which

M Kee, late Indian Agent in California and request that you will inform me if new evidence has been filed since commissioner [illegible] suspended the items [illegible] in R. M Kee's accounts.

I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 18th inst requesting that the Assistant Treasury of the United States at San Francisco, Cal. be instructed to buy a check drawn by Austin Wiley late Superintendent of Indian Affairs in Calafornia [California] for four hundred and thirty dollars now held by [Initials?] Lake. Sir

In reference to the subject of the purchase of improvements in Hoopa Valley, and of the personal property of settlers therin, submitted to this Office by communications from your predecesor dated March 22nd I have to state that the papers in the case were referred to the Secretary of the Interior with report of April 22nd ult, of which copy is enclosed, as well as of the Secretary's decision thereupon. There remaining some doubt as to whether it was intended that the personal property was intended to be embraced in the amount for which appropriation was made by Congress, the subject was again referred to the Secretary, and of his decision thereupon dated June 9th inst, a copy is enclosed as a basis for the instructions herein I transmit a copy of the act of Congress of March 3rd 1865 appropriately [$60,000?] to pay for the improvements and lest proper copies of the papers in the case may not have been retained, I also forward copies of all that have been laid before the Department. An examination of these various enclosures will enable you to apprehend the instructions for your guidance, which follow:
