I think Otto Gottschalk is in one of the frats here. I heard that the frats were pretty sportty concerns. They spend lots of money. They rope in some rich Freshman and bump him for all he's got. Those fellows in the frats are generally the ones that get fluncked at the end of the year.
Ill will have to borrow a 2c stamp to send this letter.

Dear Ma etc:
I received everything I went to post office and got the letter with the $35 in it and then went to the Wells Fargo office and got the box. I opened it a few minutes ago and you ought to see me dive into it. Those cookies are just out of sight and the cake is out of the question. I thank you very much. I am eating it all up right away. I think I'll have to put it away or itll be all gone before I know it. Tell Lulu that she always knew how to bake

cake and this one is no exception. The cookies are nearly all gone already.
I went to the University post office Wednesday and inquired about that letter. She looked it up and found it in the Knecht hole. She thought the or was a n. Its all right now. I paid the registrar $10 and bought my books which amounted to $5.33. I bought a pad lock 20c got my hair cut 25c, bought a lunch basket 30c, bought an apron for the chemical lab. 40c 5c stamps and have $3.45 left. The laundry bill was 95c and so I have $2.50 left. As Stanford has no mining engineering course this year I had to make out my course myself. My major subject is Geology, but I don't take any of it. I think two years here and two years at Golden will be fine. I can get a fuller course here for the 1st 2 years. I am taking gymnasium three times a week.

I think I am going to like it here very much.
How is Ma. Is she a well as ever. How are you all. Is Otto going to stopp at Palo Alto on the way to Chicago. He can just as well, it's only about an hour and a half's ride from San Francisco.
Did Otto have a good time when we went up Wilsons peak with Tug. If you see Tug tell him to write. I haven't any stamps now, or I would write to him. I guess I better stopp or else my letter will be too heavy. When are you going to send that over coat etc.
Annie can figure out how much I need from the list I wrote.
From your expensive
