Dear Ma etc.

I received Lulu's letter Saturday night but as I wanted to tell you about the instrument which I intended to buy to-day I posponed the letter till now.

I russeled arround a little and found a fellow in the University who had a set he wanted to sell. It isn't an extra fine one but I thought it would do till I am in buss., and then I could get me a fine expensive and complete set. The set is worth $5.00 but I got it for $3, it being second hand. I think I made a pretty good bargain. I am quite rich, I have $11.00 left. The materials etc didn't

amount to as much as it said in that paper or at least I didn't pay that much. I went to a cut-rate dealer and got good goods and quite a reduction. "Its nothing like scheming arround."

Well I'm about settled now and am looking arround a little to see the country. This valley is a fine place. Some fine rich residenses are here. I'm looking arround so I can take Otto or any other person I know who comes this way to the places of interest about the university. I went to the Museum last Saturday. gifts from other people. There are mummies there, Chinese display Japanese and Indian relics and one room is filled with indian potery only. The best way to see the country is to take a wheel and ride. Wheels are cheap here you can renet one for an hour for 15c. The roads are fine and no hills to climb.

I found it necessary to buy a pocket knife, so I invest $1.00 for that purpose.

expenses and will send them to you at the end of each month. I am getting allong fine so far. The time seemes to fly so quickly. I guess its because I have somthing to do all the time.

Its too bad that you will have to be alone for a while but I suppose if some one does come Annie can come with her mosquito gun and chase them away.

If you see Tug, tell him he's a "bird." It's a wonder he dont write; I wrote to him. IF you see George or Arthur Faronsworth or any body I know tell them to write as letter are welcome all the time.

I'm making quite a bit with my violin. They all think I am hot stuff. (Poor people, I guess they never heard good music) I played "Faust" just a

little while ago and they all thought it was grand. I had laugh to laugh in my sleave.

On Christmas the students have a special car to Los Angeles and the trip is greatly reduced in price. The far is somewhere in the neaborhood of $20 for the tround trip. The term ends Dec 20 and the 2nd semester begins Monday Jan 6. That would leave me 16 days vacataion.

There is a lecture every Tuesday evening in the chapell at the Quad by some noted man. These lecture are open to the public and are very good. I don't know any thing else to write exept that everything is going pretty well with me and hoping
