Sir, On the other side you have a statement of the Property in the District of Edenton claimed by the University, sale of which remains much in the same situation as when I made my last report [?] part of the Tyrrell Land which is [received?] & now waits the Order of the Board relative thereto. Mr. Peter Brown will hand you my [?] with the Trustees as so the Vouchers to substantiate the same which after examination you will please return him [& should the?] and prove [?] you will please pay him the Balance.

Dear Sir I received yours of the Inst. with an Execution Inclosed in it agst John Hagan, according to your Direction have taken the Sheriff’s Recpt for it & herein inclosed. Mr Hagan has not yet returned and I have hearn he was retaling Goods in Richmond Virga. the Sheriff I believe will not be able to git the Execution Satisfyed untill Hagan should come, then if he endeavors I believe he may

Dir Sir By Mr Duffy I send you on account of the Trustees the sum of Fifty pounds. I have not yet received the Judgt against Ashe nor do I know when I shall. The amt of [Dorseys?] bond have been long received. As soon as the present court is over I shall make it my business to attend to the collection of donations. Dr Sir Inclosed is a statement of monies received since my last Settlement (To Wit) Eight hundred and twenty three pounds 12/4 Collected on confiscated property The balance on escheated property the aggregate amt on the executions agst Winbeen & Gray I have, the sum actually due the Trustees on there [Exr?] at present [cant?] ascertain that is after deducting [carts?] Have left in the hands of Col Potter £400.17 for you. you will oblige me very much in making an acct for me both as an attorney & Commissioner and transmitt by post, & let me pay the postage, another reason prevented my making out an acct. was I did not know whether there was commissions allowed on the monies collected on the Judgt agt Winbeen & Gray this you will please advise me. I think in [?] are intitled. Have more
money on hand but could not bring it being laden with other money to this place. Will transmit the balance on hand by the earliest conveyance

Dr Sir I Received your several letters the last to hereof bears date the 11th May last respecting the Balance due to the Trustees of the university, but being obliged to be very much from home I have not had it in my Power to acknowledge the receipt of them till now. I am very sorry that the payment of this balance has been so long delayed nothing but the want of opportunity of conveying the money in safety could have occasioned this delay, be assured It shall be forwarded as soon as a convenient opportunity presents. There is so little intercourse between this and Hillsborough that I have heard of no opportunity except by post since my removal from Newbern to this place, and that made [?] to be too hazardous or a one to be adopted.
I spoke to Mr. Miller some time ago and requested him to be so kind as to inform me if any opportunity should offer whereby I might avail my self of sending the money he told me that he would [the?] if he should hear of any such and at the same time mentioned to me that if it was agreeable to you he would [revive?] the amount of the debt here, will you be so obliging as to signify your approbation of the measure (should it prove agreeable) and it shall be immediately paid.
