Monday April 25, 1921
A good day. Ben went to meet Jim. Jim come from Chatham. The men that will put in the lights come today.
Marvin went to the island. He got his washing machine today. Carrie and the children and Edna went to Cedar Forest. I went with Johnson Reynolds to the island. Beaula and I fished. Did not catch any thing.
I eat dinner at Mr Peaks. They are all so good to me. I am ashamed to impose on them. I thanked Johnson for takeing me to the island. Got stuck in the mud between Marvins and the gray soil road. Marvin and Mr Hutcherson helped to push his truck out.
Saturday May 14, 1921
A beautiful day. Ben worked on his car most of the day. This evening he carried me to Strait Stone Creek and the store. We come back by Renan. We met with Clifton and Jane Reynols. I was glad to see them.
Jim went to Chatham. Marvin went to Altavista to day. He had his teeth worked on.
Henry went to Uncle Johnsons this morning. He got some guina eggs. I put them under a hen to night. I hope that they may hatch.
Wednesday June 1, 1921
A good day. The boys worked in their tobacco all day. Josie sewed some this morning. This evening she starched the clothes and ironed most of them.
I went with Carrie and the children to White Falls. They carried corn. The miller could not grind it but swaped meal for the corn. We fished some. Caught some fish. Stopped at Mount Airy and at Renan. Johnson & Mollie went to Chatham. They carried Mildred Fergerson with them.
Thursday August 11, 1921
A good day. Jim and Henry hauled some sand and put a round the spring. Jim cut up the mulberrie tree. Henry brought the water for to night.
Josie spent the day at Reynolds. She had a good day. Ben helped to put on the roof at Mrs Cars place and build a porch. I staid at home for one time with the children. I milked and churned and got dinner and supper. Did not try to do any other work.
Mabel was very good for her to be. Carrie & family went to Gretna to see their new home. Kate Harvey went with them.
Wednesday August 17, 1921
A little rain this morning. Clear this evening. Ben & Jim and Henry went to work in the tobacco this morning. Word came that Miss Ursal[?] Lewis was lost from the milkin place. The boys from here and all over the neighborhood went to look for her. They found her unharmed. She just went a way because she was mad. Josie raked and worked on the yard. I was afraid she would be sick. Denia & Sallie Blair come here this evening. I was at Johnson Reynols. They had a crowd this evening. Mrs Kellie & Grace Brumfield & Mrs Dr Owen and six children, Kate Harvey and I. They had plenty of water mellons. Two men was going to speak at Renan school house tonight.
