Monday May 2, 1921
A cloudy cool day. Ben sawed wood at Marvins. Jim worked on his tobacco ground. Josie wet a lot of gingham this morning and ironed it this evening. I went to Mags this evening. Mr Padget even taken me and gave me a ride. I was glad of it. Found all well at Mags. I come by Renan. Hubbard was plowing. Kate Hubbard was freezing cream. I then come by Reynols's. There was no one at home but Julia and children the rest of them was gone to Danville. Kate Harvey went with them. I come by Mr Farthings. Mrs Farthing has nice little girl a week olde. Her name is Elsie May. They had a lot of company. I then come by Marvins and then home. Josie had supper a bout ready.
Thursday May 5, 1921
A rainy day. The men that was to put in the light come and worked all the evening. They got one so we eat supper by it. Josie got dinner. I hemed a pair of sheets. I went to Marvins a few minutes. To day was Evas birth day. She is three years olde. Jims little game chickens hatched out today and yesterday. One of my hens quit her nest. I am sorry.
Jim come home this evening. I am so glad that he come all right. It is a discouraging time. I do hope that the weather will soon be better. Then people will feel better I hope.
Saturday May 7, 1921
A good day. Ben has not done any work today. Staid around with Mr Hobson. Josie and I got dinner. This evening Marvin and family went to Strait Stone. I went with them. We fished a while. Did not catch anything worth anything. Josie got supper. I attended to the chickens and cow.
Friday May 20, 1921
A good day. The boys planted corn all day. Henry done the planting. Jim layed off the rows. Josie ironed all the morning. I worked over my chicken coops. Helped get a snack for dinner.
I went to Marvins. I worked a few button holes.
Josie went to Renan store. She bought some fish. Cooked them for supper. They were fine.
Saturday June 4, 1921
A clear morning. Rain this evening. Ben and Jim & Henry worked tobacco all the morning. This evening Ben went to Gretna to meet Nellie Brumfield. Three of the children went and I went. I bought a pair of shoes and a few other things. It rained all the time that we were comeing home. We did not get wet. Josie had supper a bough ready when we got home.
