He told me to come to Fon du Lac and get our Motherhouse there. I was indeed surprised He told me that there was a nice place near the Irish church a large brown frame house with 6 nice lots 1/2 square that Rev Colton would like it very much and we would do well he says we could get about 600 children and could keep saving school the yankees would send there children too and all three priest are for us to come that place cost about 5 or 6000 Dol. We could have 6 or 7 years to pay on it. We can make over 2000 Doll. every year and keep a fare once a year and and exabition one a year. I know we could do a great deal F Pickle says he would do all he can for us.

Barton April 7 1870 April 7-1870 Good Sentiments Use.

Dear Sister Gertrude:

Your last letter I received. Sister came home safe and well. I also received the 50 Doll. I send you Barbara I think anyhow that she will do her best she has a good heart and a good will what more can we ask if a person tries there best she was sometimes disobedient but she begs pardon when she wants anything. I beg you dear sister to keep her in obedients all you can and let her know that she only a novice did not make a vow yet. She dont know nothing about the sisters the way they act around on missions so you can do something with her. Humble her sometimes she gets it from me just to keep her up not to get proud. I want her to study all she can she must learn to play too. She can help to wash and work what ever you want her to do its better they help some work around not to get them so that they dont want to do anything. You know I have no kitchen sisters to send to you what can I do. Antonia is not back yet and I am not certain of her coming though I am ready to assist you all I can try and get along till retreat then we might be able to help you. Send that other candidate away we cant use her she can go to Rev. Fassles again. I heard Veronica was so sausy I dont want such candidates tell her mother about it and tell her that she will be send away dont send her to Barton if she is so. I dont want her she can go home. Sister told me about her telling a story in confession just tell P.C. he must know it or else he thinks he

has little angles. Brother Charles wrote me an awful sausy letter he is putting the children on the hill I am glad indeed that I have nothing to do with him any more he never stoped since the first time he commenced I was very tired with his acting he is very proud indeed I must say he has no humility and I am the cause of everything he puts all faults on me I told him I would carry it all and I am not sorry if he takes the children. Sister Benedicta an B. left wednesday morning for Defiance the 6 of April. She made her vow for 2 years. I think she would like to remain in Barton better. I wrote you last week, but sisters say you did not get my letter. I wrote you that Sister Josephine should stay in Marytown till Barbara could come after retreat. But it is just as good and better yet. Send Anna Wablers trunk tell her mother she would like her to send it by stage as soon as possible her mother writes such foolish letters Anna is happy and contended. Now I must write you about sister Lidwina I see that she is not doing any good any more in Marytown C Sister what trouble I must have my heart aches me very much and I feel sick from nothing but troubles I know she is a trouble to you and so I will have to take her down to me I cant do anthing with her I spoke and wrote her often enough but everything is in vain. But I will have any double cross when she is here I want her to stay till retreat in Marytown after retreat I can see what to do on account of my self I will write to P.C. and ask his advise what to do with her if I should take her away or not. But dont tell her I was going to write to him. Now one thing I must tell you. I understand from the two sisters Dom. and Josephine that the rules were not kept quinctual they
