Afternoon Singleton Powell was at the office for advice & medicine for his wife. I went to mill for brown flour. Thos. S. Stabler talked to me over the telephone wires.

Have used it since in convalescence from typhoid fever and in several cases of anæmia and chlorosis with gratifying results. It is all you claim for it."

Cloudy & threatning weather all day. Edwd went with the horse & phaeton over towards Unity (Willie going with him) adjusting telephones & repairing the wires on the line: he was gone all day getting home just after dark. I went to the store & P.O. morning & afternoon. Ther. 35° Sunday, January 26th Wind S.E. 26 Days Past Snow & Rain. 339 To Come COUNT THE RED BLOOD CELLS both before and after treatment if you want an accurate scientific proof of the effective blood-building power of Pepto-Mangan (Gude). Watch the mucous membranes of the eye and lip if you want a positive clinical demonstration of its value as an oxygen-carrying, hæmoglobinproducing, chalybeate tonic in anæmia, chlorosis, or blood-impoverishment from any cause. We will be glad to send samples for practical experimentation, together with descriptive literature and reports of "blood counts" in a large number of carefuly observed cases. Shall we do so? To assure proper filling of prescriptions, order Pepto-Mangan (Gude) in original bottles ([?] xi.). It's never sold in bulk.

The ground was covered with snow this morning, alhough it was more rain than snow. I went to meeting & heard a sermon from Edwd. Farquhar, upon "Right & Expedience." It has been an extremely disagreeable day from first to last. After supper Mrs. Ribeson came in & spent the evening with us. It is a great blood builder, and the best tonic I ever used. Pepto-Mangan (Gude) is reliable. Its results are marvelous."

It rained nearly all last night, and was very threatning this moring & most of today. Edward drove to Rockville in the phaeton this morning & has not returned at 7 o clk this evening. Ther. 20° Tuesday, January 28th Wind N.W. 28 Days Past Cloudy & Clearing. 337 To Come Medical Summary (Philadelphia), July, 1901, says; "There is no doubt of the efficacy of Pepto-Mangan (Gude) in cases of amenorrhœa dependent upon a general chlorotic condition. Repeated instances of this character have responded to this agent, both in hospital and in private practice. This preparation is a valuable addition to our list of ferruginous preparations."

I was called up last night about midnight to go next door to see Miss "Mary Trip Fowler, who had an attack which I believe was "Epileptic" although she called it "heart trouble" from defective values of the heart." but it was convulsions, with all of the symptoms of Epilepsy, frothing of mouth, biting of tongue followed by "snoring" respiration etc. Edwd went to "Amersley" and from there to Dr. Brookes, where he was at work most of the day putting in a "desk set." he also went to Dr. Elbrey's & did some work on the wires getting home in time for supper. Rachael Cash sent for more medicine etc. I went to store & P.O. & to Brown's shop put hoop on wash tub for H. After supper went to Fairall's & called at Mrs. Robison's.

It is an excellent remedy for anæmia, and good in all forms of wasting diseases. Also good during the convalescent stage of typhoid fever, measles, etc."

It was snowing when we got up this morning and continued all day until about 4 o clk this afternoon I did not go out of the house all day. Edward went "to Pen y bryn" to tune their piano. Willie drove over this afternoon in the sleigh bringing Miss Annie Busby to call upon Dora. Dudley Ridgley was here for medicine for Chas. Brown. In sawing wood I let a stick of cord wood fall on my left foot & hurt it considerably. Mr. Beall brought us 1 1/2 cords of oak wood this morning. It is still cloudy & threatning more snow at bedtime. Ther. 20° Thursday, January 30th Wind Variable 30 Days Past Cloudy. 335 To Come THERE IS ONLY ONE PEPTO-MANGAN. "That the medical profession may clearly understand the situation, we respectfully call their attention to the fact that Pepto-Mangan (Gude) is not to be confounded with other preparations of iron in the form of elixirs, syrups, solutions, pills, or tablets. Pepto-Mangan (Gude) is a clear, dark-reddish colored, neutral organic solution of iron and manganese, of an agreeable, non-astringent, mildly aromatic taste.

The sleighing has been excellent today and many sleighs have passed here! Edwd went to Dr. Brookes to finish some telephone work. Afternoon Willie came in the sleigh bringing Miss Busby and took Edwd to "Fairfield" to spend the night. I went to the store & P.O. this afternoon. It is still cloudy and threatning more snow.

The patient had suffered in the early spring with malarial fever and was very much run down and bloodless. After using the medicine she gained rapidly."

I went to the store & bought a pair of gum boots. Willie Fanny & Anna Busby & Edwd came before lunch Miss Busby expecting to leave in the 2 o clk stage, but it passed without our seeing it and they all concluded to remain here until tomorrow.
