Dear Ma. etc:-

Find enclosed statement for January.

I have been waiting patiently for a letter from home eversince last Saturday when I received Clara's letter. I suppose I can't expect any more than one letter a week so its all right.

I have lots to do now. I have more than I had last term.

Another boarder named Bartlett and I took a walk this morning to the bay. I rented a shot gun and we had a fine time.

We walked all arround the bay an did'nt see a thing. We shot some black-birds and then started back. There is a creek about a quarter of a mile from the house and we tried to get accross so we would not have to walk arround to a bridge amount a mile up the stream. I took a long run first and landed right in the middle. I got to a small island in the middle of the bed and waited for Bartlett. He also got wet. We then jumped the rest of the way and go very wet. I had on my old clothes so it did'nt harm.

I sent a pair o socks by mail that need to be "stubft." Send them back again as soon as possible.

We get very scrub oranges up here; they are half rotten.

Whenever I think of the fine oranges you have down there my mouth waters. Say, cant you send me some by express. If you can just pack my shot-gun in with them or in a seperate package. I think it would not cost so much. I would have lots of fun on Saturdays if I had it here. There is'nt much to hunt but I could shoot black birds and have the "fun" of walking anyway.

Dear Ma. etc,

I received the shot gun and annies letter the other day and was very glad. I will go out Saturday and have a good time if I don't shoot anything.

Well there is nothing to write exept that the Stanford Suit is awaiting the decision of the supreme judges of Washington. If the suit is decide for Mrs Stanford the university is safe but if in the other hand the decision is in favor of the government, the university will close on June first.

Thanks for those socks that came with the gun. They will come in very handy.

The bottom of my pants are all worn off. You know I walk very much I make the trip to the Quad four times a day. I am going to take them to the tailor in Palo Alto to morrow and have them fixed.

Ask Gus if he has a good black vest that he don't use. That one of mine is getting to small. I must be getting bigger or some thing is the matter because I cant button my vest any more and it dont look good to have two or three buttons open. I wrote a letter of ten pages to Arthur just now and am about played out in letter writing for to night.
