in covered option writing because I don't have enough $$ to diversify, I don't want the paperwork, I don't have ability to pick stocks, and if only 1/3 of my money is involved in this, it's not that big a contribution to the whole pot. Further more, there may be something in the Value Line numbers, good as they seem to be, which I don't understand. Like SS/TS looked great till I worked with it awhile, and realized that option premiums may increase as people get more "sure" the market will rise, thus reducing the chance for gains in those options.

What all this implies is that covered call writing is attractive and I should look for it in the next fund I choose to have manage some of my money.

The last financial topic I considered was the Delta Society. It's another of Welles Wilder's projects. This time he wants $3500 up front. Fortunately I'm not attracted because it's just for commodities, which I have no use for. I don't invest in unproductive assets, except gold for its hardness physicalness + portability.

The "information" takes the form of a computer program which tells of the points in time when reversals will come. But, oh, there are inversions too! God, how do they get away with this. Inversions explained away the only example (Deutsch-Mark) in the old July '84 brochure...Right?

There's no money back guarantee, and no reason for the information to be in software. It is publishable since it's just a list of dates. No actuals are entered in ever. Yukko...

Picked up a couple boxes on Monday but it turned out to be wrong stuff - SILVER!!

Putting it together I discovered I need a cartridge so I complained about delay, and exchanged for correct turntable and cassette deck, and because of my inconvenience they gave me cassette for free.

THURS 6/20

MORNING + AFTERNOON: installed burglar alarm on back window + door. October 1984 Consumer Reports had article on protecting your home, including burglar alarms. They didn't rate them but gave the characteristics by which to evaluate them. But in the recommendations they said that the Radio Shack 49-450 was typical of the better do-it-yourself systems.

There are two categories of alarms, the perimeter detector, and interior detectors. I'm interested in the former because it seems more secure, and sounds an alarm before intruder has gotten inside. It's a little more tough to install but I have only one window + door to protect. And interior sensors can be set off accidentally by me or the cat, if they're usually left on as I'd prefer doing.

I got a hard wired system because it's probably more reliable, definitely cheaper, and not a problem for just 1 indow.

The sensors I got are N.C. magnetic ones

Control unit has key operated switch, and entry/exit variable delays if I need 'em.

Overall, I'm very happy with the Radio Shack system

The siren can yellp or just emit steady noise, but to differentiate from smoke alarm, I chose yelp. The control unit turns off the siren in 5 minutes, which is one of the primary reasons to get this system. The siren is separate from the main unit so I put it in the dining room closet, luckily finding a small hole bored from the pantry already!

I'll normally leave the system off in the summer since I open the window, but in winter it can be on. It's easy to "arm", with the "key."

The system also has many options for operating relays, etc, and those may be useful in the future. There are panic buttons, (N.C., NO) X (Delay, Immediate). Very flexible.

Also read about door + window locks, in Oct '84 Cons Reports. Not much more I can do. Also checked story on Smoke Alarms. They're all pretty sensitive, and mine which is GE has 30 day warning battery-low signal.

Also installed Clock/Timer on living room lamp.
