If we'll orient Pers Acct to Fin Planning Professionals, it falls much more appropriately into our product line and business. Microsoft doesn't do consumer products now.

The most important thing to do now is impress a real financial planner with Personal Accountant. Get Kaycee Kristi, queen of them all, to like it. Then GET 2 or 3 fin planner to use it. Get 'em hooked.

But this will happen only after documentation.

I've realized Pers Acct is a real luxury. It's expensive to set up + learn budgeting, and all it really does is reduce anxiety, and give grace to your future transactions, by reducing uncertainty. Improves the flow. Smooths out the bumps.

Forget about whether Fin Planners have time to teach their clients. Time will tell. First get them to use it + comment. See if they remain enthusiastic.

SO: I still want a good environment and friends (close ones who can relate to me: good looks, brains, some $, gay, etc.), but I also want to push Pers Acct as far as it can go. Working on both of these at once

SAT JULY 27

12:00 NOON Having written all this up in here and put all my business notes in this book for last few weeks (concerning Ida, Jeff, Kristi, etc), I feel I'm up to date. The plan of attack is to put together a sales pitch to Kaycee, and get some fin planners using Pers Acct ASAP. (8/8 but we need doc'n FIRST!) She has the most interest in this of anyone so far except me. More than Ann, Kristi, Ida, Jeff, or anyone. So concentrate on impressing her with Pers Acct's strengths.

And if it doesn't work out then at least I have a history of it here. Since July 8:

Fri July 12 meet with Ida, Jeff, Bill

Sat July 13 Decide to focus on selling via fin planners

Wed July 17 Talk with Kristi

Fri July 19 Shop for suits at Klopfensteins

Mon July 22 Talk with Kaycee

Wed July 24 Call Robert Half

1-2 Lunch + sun

2-3 Haircut 3-4 Miscellaneous

4-6 Gym + my enthusiasm for selling Kaycee on Pers Acct wanes as I remember how bad gym will be + how lonely I will be this fall.

6-7 Make + eat dinner.

7-9 Read Aug '84-Oct '84. Think about it. It's just a review. Some thoughts on LA + SF. Think about whether I want close friend REALLY.

9-11 YES, BUT FIRST I NEED TO DRESS AND ACT THE PART. READ MALLOY'S LIVE FOR SUCCESS.

SUN JULY 28

Having stayed up to 3:00 at Neighbors, I slept in till 10:00. Then had leisurely breakfast and watched tape replacement for Sat Night Live. It was called Television Parts and wasn't very good.

Got ready and went to beach and had pleasant afternoon just laying out for a while, swimming to dock, reading Parlor games, and playing cards with Aaron + Julie.

7-9:00 Home + get cleaned up and eat dinner and read "Live for Success" chapter on verbal communication and on being liked. Practice in mirror.

9:00 Go out to Numbers (2024). I don't fit in. Daddy's has a small crowd + fun video. Go to Ritz and drink with TD + TP. Home + get good nights rest.

MON JULY 29

Think about Pers Acct + getting customers to send transactions to Financial Planner.

10:30-12:30 Gym + meet Mark (of Gustavo M)

12:30-1:30 Bafferts for lunch

1:30 Review "Dress" on ties. Go for fitting of suits. Check suits at Fredericks + Nordstroms. Nothing I like.

4:30 Go to work still wearing tie. Feels good. Create forms for Pers Acct data entry.

5:45 Go home + use it for my own.

7:00 Dinner

8-10 Wash + dry loads at Laundromat.

10-11 Pay Bills, desk work.

TUES JULY 30

8:30 Summary of Yesterday's thoughts

(1) Many people will have no reason to own a computer except for Pers Acct, and therefore won't use it except for twice a month, which makes use very difficult to remember. And the cost will always be at least $1K, and currently is $2K without printer.

WAIT A FEW YEARS FOR CHEAPER UNITS

(2) Because financial planner is needed to set up accounts and structure of finances (Maybe doc'n will be enough training), he is involved. For a small monthly fee he or an assistant can enter transactions, reconcile against bank + card statements, and run reports. The customer simply writes transactions in a register, along with distribution accounts. Most customers will be lawyers, doctors, dentists, marketers, sales people, NOT accountants, and they won't want to fuss with data entry and reconciling. In the future, it won't be any harder to enter into a laptop than to write on paper.

The transactions are easy to communication, so modularize that activity. It's all the customer must do. But have to dev budgeting then? casual

(3) Entering transactions yourself doesn't get info any more timely since you only rebudget once a quarter. Fin planner could have rotating schedule of 1/3 of his customers rebudgeting each month. Those people get data entry done early in the month, that month. Between major rebudgeting, small changes are made incrementally to previous major budget plan. AWKWARD

(4) This centralizes the process with the financial planner who can keep records organized. Answering customers questions about using the software would take as much time as doing the whole thing in-house. Hassle. This approach provides clean modular technique between customer + financial planner. Customer provides initial status of liabilities and assets in consultation with FP, and monthly transactions, and FP provides advice and reports. DOCUMENTATION IS CRITICAL. COSTS A LOT.
