[Thursday 22 March 1883]
They all went off with the cattle to Mr. Doyle's yard to brand, & returned to luncheon, left directly after & did not return till Sundown. I was rather low spirited all the evening. Ernie was going to take me to watch the cattle with him last night from 10 till 12, but Mr. Shadforth would not allow me to go much to my disgust, as there is a wild cow among the mob.
[Friday 23]
Mr. Willis & Mr. Tudor went away after luncheon. Mr. Willis & I did not say "Goodbye" to one another. We are still in a state of animosity towards each other. I am so glad he is gone.

I have had a horribly bad eye, since Friday afternoon, it is better today, but is still much swollen & weak. It has gone all through the house, I am about the last to have it. Mr. Ernie told me of a wicked story [The rest of this entry crossed out, in pencil:] Mr. Willis told him of me & Mr. Tudor. The hateful fellow. Ernie told him, he did not believe it I am glad to say, but if he tells the same to strangers they will not know it is false. Poor old Harry, I hope it won't get to his ears.
