[Sunday 4 March 1883]
Mrs. Shadforth the girls, Mr. Willis, Mr. Taylor & Mr. Lamond & all the children went for a ride & drive calling in at the Police camp on their way. It being Sunday, I did not go. Harry & I went for a walk by ourselves. Wrote to Minnie.
[Monday 5]
Mr. Watson & Mr. Han [Hann] from Lorne Hill [Lawn Hill] came this afternoon. They pitched their tent a short distance from the house, but had tea with us. Mr. Han [Hann] owns Lorne Hill [Lawn Hill] Station (cattle) & Mr. Jack Watson manages in his absence. Wrote to Lilla & Papa.

[Tuesday 6 March 1883]
Mr. Han [Hann] & Mr. Watson had breakfast here, & left soon after. Clouds were gathering up again. If it rains before Thursday, Harry and Mr. Bob will have to postpone their departure. As Harry will have to go some time, I hope he will get away on Thursday, as the sooner he goes the sooner we shall get back to Sydney & then I hope most sincerely there will be no more partings. I washed & ironed nearly all the morning and afternoon. Mr. Lamond went out on patrole, he will be away a fortnight.
[Wednesday 7]
Fine weather still. Went for a walk this afternoon along the river bank with Harry, and again this evening towards the crossing. Our last stroll until we return together to the Norman. I am not going down with Amy, but will wait here for Harry, as Mrs. Shadforth will feel more comfortable at my being with Edith, when she is away. Mr. Shadforth went to Gregory Downs to bring on the dray which Ernie had to leave before the wet.

[Thursday 8 March 1883]
Poor old Harry went away today with Mr. Bob at 3 or 4 this afternoon. I hope he will be back in 12 weeks. I wonder if he will! He was dreadfully "cut up" about leaving me, of course I was & am. The weather is getting very hot again. Clouds still are gathering but no rain yet. No man on the place but Mr. Taylor. It seems so strange & dull.
[Friday 9]
We had a short but heavy thunderstorm this afternoon, not enough to cool the air for more than an hour or two after the rain had ceased. Doing needlework all day.
