Mr. Shadforth & Mr. Taylor left this morning & returned at at about ½ past 12 to bring the dray, but could not get further than the Police Camp before dark. Mr. T. came home to sleep but Mr. Shadforth is remaining at the Camp.
[Wednesday 14]
Mr. Murray came & brought Ernie from Margaret Vale in his buggy. Mr. Willis's house on that Station was burnt to the ground a day or two ago & all their personal effects. The Store is safe fortunately. They were all out on the Run when it happened. Mr. Shadforth brought the dray early this morning, & Edith & I unpacked all the Stores.

Very hot all day, we did nothing particular. Worked — Ernie, Mr. Murray & we 3 girls had a dance at the back of the house after tea
[Friday 16]
Mr. Murray, Mr. Ernie, Edith & I went for a ride to the "Basin" about 5 miles away. Coming back, Ernie & I rode over a big brown Snake, they tried to find & kill it, but it had disappeared. Mr. Willis came from Margaret Vale at about ½ past 7 in the evening. Mr. Tudor. Shadforth is ill with fever so will not be down till tomorrow. Danced for an hour or two.
