is the only one [Pussy] has to bring her water & wood. & you know how very badly I am off for baby nurses. Our cotton fields are so far from the settlement this year that it requires a larger child than I have now unemployed to carry the child to be nursed.

I will endeavour my dear child to have the cake made for you & hope [Georgia] will suceed as well with yours as with hers yesterday.

The detention of the boys last night gave your father much uneasiness - he was very unwell & after setting up until past eleven & hearing nothing of them we went to bed - at half past one we were awoke by a messenger from [John Demere] begging me to come over & see his poor wife who was very low - as soon as the horses could be got we Mrs G & myself

went & I found her most distressingly ill - about 4 oclock she began to mend and I left her at eight this morning sleeping comfortably. I feel very uneasy about her & deep sympathy for poor [Mr Jonser?] & [John Demere] the infant was thought a little better - but I hard ly think it can live - I [?] your [messace?] poor [Margaret] seemed grateful for your kind message. I called to see [C? Demere] on my way home - she is very unwell

she said she had no [sleep?] last night & had fever when I was there.

Your father is very unwell the pills & magnesin he has taken has made him much worse - I begin to be seriously alarmed about him. He will not I am sure be able to attend the meeting at Brunswick tomorrow - & I hope no one will try to persuade him to go - [Georgia] says you had better send late this afternoon for your cake as we find it best when warm. All join in love to you & [William] & kisses to teh child ren - Your mother [AMKing]
