Tuesday, November 6, 1923

A cloudy bad day. Ben went to Renan. He was one of the judges of the election. Jim stripped tobacc [sic] most of the day. Lee B. come for me and Jim went with us to Renan. Mr Kent brought us home. Mrs Kent voted. Mabel and I fixed to go if any one should come. I bought some cloth to make Mabel some dresses of. Kate was at the store. I was glad to see her. Ben has not come home yet. I am anxious to hear from the elections. The chimney burnt out tonight. It scared the children some. It is raining hard now.

A cloudy windy day. The men stripped tobacco most of the day. Ben carried Mr. Elders calf home this morning. He got to the corn and eat all that he could. Hope it won't hurt him. The children went to school. Edna and Franklin come home complaining of tooth ache and head ache. I hope they may be better by morning. Mabel has a bad cough. Ben has gone to the school house to night to a meeting of the committee. They want to make some way to pay for the school house. I hope that they may. I made Mabel a dress today.

To day is Bens birth day

A disagreeable day. Colde and windy. Ben went to take a load of furniture to Java for Kate Harvey. He has not come home and we think he will stay all night over there. I hope he may. Jim stripped some tobacco. The children went to school. The three youngest are all most laid up with colds. Jim had a letter from Nellie today. She said that they were all bad off with colds. I have done a little sewing today. The children was late getting in from school. They had a ball game over at the school house this evening.

A clear colde day. Ben staid at Dr. Wiggintons last night. He come by the mill and got flour at Johnsons Mill. He got home a bout two oclock today. Jim stripped tobacco. I sewed a little. I killed a chicken for dinner. Just at dark to night Jim Power and Lawson and Mildred and Elizabeth and Raymon come. They brought some beef they weighed at Reynolds. The [sic] eat supper here. The little girls stayed all night and will stay a day or two.

A good day. The men stripped tobacco. Ben went to Renan and got some things that was bought at Kate's sale. Ben and Henry has gone to Mr. Mayhews to night. The children here and the Power children have had a good time playing to day. Mabel is got the tooth ache tonight. I cooked a possome today. Some of the folks eat it and some would not. I got a letter from Carrie today. She said that they were working on the road by there yet.
