A little rain today. Ben and Paul topped tobacco this morning. Paul suckered tobacco this evening.
Josie sewed some this morning. I got dinner. This evening Ben and Josie went to Strait Stone and Cedar Forest and Grit. Jane Reynolds come a little while this evening. She was horse back. I think she is a good little woman.

Tuesday, July 30, 1918
Rain this morning. A good evening.
Josie got dinner. Had butter beans the first from our garden. This evening Dews and Mayhew and Ben and Paul played croquet all the evening. Kate Harvey come a while and Virginia Harvey and Doris Brumfield come by from Strait Stone.
They had carried one of A J Harveys girls to Mr Thompsons.

Wednesday, July 31, 1918
A little rain today.
Ben and Paul topped tobacco a while today.
Josie got dinner. She made a stew and had snaps and cymblins and corn all good. Mrs Owens come a while. We all went and looked at the garden then to the tobacco ground to see the tomatoes and water mellons and bean patch.
I went to Marvins a few minutes. Their cow is sick. I wrote to Evylin Brumfield today.
I have fixed some butter to night for Kate Harvey. [scratchy ink blots] I guess I have the meanest pen about here.

Thursday, August 1, 1918
A good day. Ben and Paul worked getting tobacco sticks all the morning. This evening they went to Cedar Forest for flues. Got two sets cost $44 got home with them OK. Josie washed this morning. This evening Reese and Henry and I went to Cedar Forest fishing did not catch anything.
To night Fanny Emerson is here. I was glad to see Fanny.

Friday, August 2, 1918
A good day. Ben and Owen and Paul pulled leaves to day. Marvin Smith and William Gilbert (col) helped them. Nearly all the children that was big enough handed leaves. This evening Fanny Emerson Josie and I helped some. Josie got dinner. She cooked snaps and beets and butter beans and corn. Mrs Owen sent her the corn.
To night Paul and Fanny has gone to meeting at St. Johns. (ink smear) Well I went to sleep I made my mark.
