This Indenture made this Eighteenth day of August Eighteen hundred & Twenty Eight witnesseth that Obea Hacy & David Cox over-seers of the poor in the Township of Center in the County of Union & State of Indiana, having put & placed & by these presents to do put & place Susanah Swift a poor girl of Said Township aged seven years & 5 monts apprentice to Samuel Witter of the Township aforesaid with him to dwell & serve from the date of these presents until the Said apprentice Shall accomplish the full age of Eighteen years according to the Statute in that Case Made & provided during all which term the Said apprentice her Said Master faithfully Shall Serve on all lawful businessed according to her power, wit, & ability; and Shall honestly, orderly & obediently in all things demenr & be have herself towards her Said Master, & all his, during the Said term. And the Said Same Mster for himself his executors & admin istrators doth covenent & agree to & with the over Seers of the poor aforesaid & each of them & their Successor in office by these presents that her the Said Sam[ue]l Witter the Said aprentice to the business & art of housewifery, Shall & will instruct or Cause to be taught & instructed, & during all the term aforesaid find, provide & allow unto the Said aprentice competent & Sufficient Meat drink & apparel, washing lodging, Mending & all other things necessary & fit for an apprentice, Shall give her Such Schooling during Said term as will Enable her at the end of her apprenticeship to Spell & Read well & write a good legible hand; And Shall give her at the end of her apprenticeship Two good New Suits of Holy-day clothes of the balcne of at least Ten dollars & Two good Suits for Every day wear And also One good New bed & beding suitable these for

And shall & will so provide for the said ap prentice that She be not in any way a charge to the County of Union aforesaid, but of & from all charge Shall Save the Said County or inhabitants thereof, harmless & indemnified, during Said Term.

This Indenture made this Seven Seventh day of October in the year of Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty four Between James Bryson and Robert Swann overseers of the poor of the township of Liberty in the County Union and State of Indiana of the one part and, William Logan of the County of Franklin and township of Jan [pele?] and state Aforesaid of the other parts Witnesseth that the said overseers have and by these presents do place and bind out Sarah Randels, a poor girl aged nine years three months and twenty eight Days, daughter of Phebe Randels, of said town ship who is unable to support her said child as the said Samuel Randels the father of the said child has absented himself from these parts with out leaving anything to support the said child as an apprentice to the said William Logan to be taught the art trade mystery and occupation of serving and spin ning and housekeeping and to serve the said Logan for the term of eight years eight months and two days from the date of these presents that is to say untill she the sh said papprentice shall arrive to and be of the age of eighteen years which the said overseers are informed and belive will happen on the ninth day of June in the year one thousand eight hundred and forty three if the said Sarah Randels so long lives And the said overseers do by these presents give unto him the said William Logan BOBBY, THIS LOOKS LIKE LAGAN HERE; LET'S CHECK WITH AN EXPERT DLS all the authority power and right to and over the said Sarah Randels and her services during said term which by the laws of this state a master hath to and over a lawfully indentured apprentice. And the said William Logan on his parts in consideration thereof doth promis covenant

and agree to and with the said overseers of the poor and each of them their and each of their successors for the time being and with the said poor girl each by them selves respectfully to teach and instruct the said Sarah Randels as his apprentice or other wise cause her to be well and sufficiently instructed and taught in the art mystery and occupation of serving Spinning and housekeeping after the best way and manner that he can and to give to the said Sarah Randels nine months schooling within the said time and also to train her to habits of obedience industry and morality and provide for and allow to her meat drink washing Lodging a apparel for summer and winter and all other necessaris proper for such an apprentice during the time of ther service as aforesaid and at the expiration thereof shall give to the said apprentice a good bed and Beding one flax spinning wheel and can one good Cow In witness whereof the said parties have hereunto interchangeably set their hands and seals the day and year first above writen In the presence of us James Bryson (seal) John W.
