This Indenture made this fifth day of July in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred & thirty six witnyseth that Mary Sangston aged fourteen years on the tenth of this month July 1836 daughter of Eve Sangston of the County of union & state of Indiana hath of hur own free will & accord & with the approbation of the said Eve Sangston hur Mother placed & bound hurself an apprentice unto John Leach Tailor of Union County & state afforesaid to learn the art mystery ocupation or trade of tailorefs which he the said John Leach now useth & with him the said John Leach as an apprentice to dwell and serve for and during the full term of four years or until the so Mary is eightun yeards of age all of said term the apprentice hurse Master will & fathflly shall serve in all such lawfull busnefs as She shall be just appon'by hur Master according to the best of the power, wit & ability of hur the said Mary Sangston and honestly & obediently shall behave hurself towards him the said John Leach & honestly & orderly towards the faimely of s[ai]d Leach and the said John Leach on his part for the consideration of the premeses doth covenant ^ & agree to & with the s[ai]d Mother & Daughter each by hurself respectflly & jointly & to teach & instruct the s[ai]d Mary or other wise to cause hur to be well & sufficently instructed & taught the art trade mystery or ocupation of tailorng after tge best way & manner - he can and that in the s[ai]d Joh Leach will provide for - and allow to the said Mary meat drink washing & lodging, to have goo clothes such ^ as is customary in the section of the country when they reside also the said Leach is to be at all expenses [????'on?al] by suchenefs or other wisr until the expration of hur apprenticeship also the s[ai]d Mary is to have three months schooling & at the close of hur aprrenticeship she is to have a gooc freedom sout of cloths, In witness where of the s[ai]d parties have hereunto interchangeably set their hands & seals the day & year first above written. This indenture made this ninth day of September in the year of our lord eighteen hundred and forty two between Solomon Landreth and Windel Crows over Seers of the poor of gray Son TownShip in the County of Owen and State of Indiana of the one part and Jacob Abrell of the county afore Said of the other part witnessith that the said overseers have put place and bound an do by thise presants put place and bind Delila almina Steward A poor girl aged thirteen years and seven months and thirteen days as an apprentice to the said Jacob Abrell to be taught the art trade and occupation that girl Jinerally taught which he the said Jacob Abrell now use and to live with and serve him the Said Jacob Abrell as an appr entice for the term of four years four months and seventeen days from this date that is to say until she the said Delila Almina Steward shall arive to the age of eighteen years if the said Jacob Abrell shall so long liv and the said over seers do by these presents give unto the said Jacob Abrell all the right power and authority over the said Delila Almina Steward and hir servis during the said term which by the laws of this state masters has in and over a lawfully indentureed apprentice and the Said Jacob Abrell in Consideration theriof doth on his part Covenant promese and agree to and with the Said overseers [^and their successors] in office and each and evry of them and with the Said Delila Almina Steward that he will teach and in Struct the said Delila Almina Steward as his apprentice or cause hir to be will and Sufficiently taough and in Structed in the art trade and occupation of a housekeeper after the best way and mannner that he can and also to teach and in Struct the Said apprentice or Cause hir to be taught and in Structed to read and train hir to habits of
