Indentures

This Indenture made this 31st day of March AD 1860 witneseth that Jacob Geahring of Fulton County in the State of Indiana hath put and places and by these presents with [pan?] and [?] out his daugther Christiana Geahring who on the 20th day of October AD 1860 will be of the age of ten years, as an apprentice in the family of [?] [M?dsean] of [?] County of Fulton to dwell with and serve the said [?] [M??sean] and learn the the art of doing household work, until the 20th day of October 1876 at which time said apprentice of [?] will be of the full age of eighteen years during all which time she shall be faithful and obedient to said [?] [M??sean] [soon?] striving to to promote his welness and the happiness and welness of his family by all lawful means, and abstaining from all habits, practices and acts which are immoral and which would tend to the [injury?] or discomfort of said [M??sean] or his family, she shall be faithful and industrious & obedient in his service.

And the said [?] [M??sean]

does on his part hereby warrant, promise and agree to teach or cause to be taught the said Christiana Geahring by the [best?] way and means in his power the various branches of household work, and cause her to be taught or instructed at school in reading writing and arithmetic both double rule of [?] so that she shall be able to read and write correctly and compute interests and keep accounts properly if she shall be capable so to learn And he shall [well?] and faithfully fund and provide for said Christiana Geahring good and sufficient meat, drink clothing, lodging and other necessaries for and [?] for her during the term aforesaid & shall give to her when she shall become eighteen years of age good and sufficient clothes for working days and good clothing for Sundays or holy days, and also one good feather [?] and one good cow In testimony whereof the said Jacob Geahring and [?] [M???sean] [?] have hereunto interchangeably put their names and seals signed sealed and delivered in presence of S [Kenth?]
