Garden Avenue - Change in location of Westerly end -

Voted. to authorize the Committee upon Grounds to change the location of Garden Avenue at its Westerly end, & to remove such trees as they may deem expedient, in consequence of such change: and that this action in relation thereto shall be considered as final, unless a quorum of the Trustees shall be present at an adjourned meeting to be held at Mount Auburn, when the same may be either reconsidered or ratified.

Voted that when we adjourn, it will be to meet at Mt Auburn at 4 o'clock this afternoon, for the purpose of viewing said Garden Avenue, & to ratify or reconsider said vote. _

Lot 460_ Representation of - design?

In accordance with the request of the heirs at law of Joseph Hartt, late proprietor of lot No. 460 - - Voted. that Wm H. Barnes, son in law of the deceased, be designated to represent said lot, & to vote at meetings of the Corporation until the further action of this board. _

Trustees - at Mt. Auburn

The Trustees met in accordance with the aforesaid adjournment at 4 O'clock, at Mt Auburn, to view Garden Avenue, & to ratify or reconsider the vote passed in the morning in relation thereto There were present, the President & Messrs Bangs, Curtis, Gould & Tisdale. _

Garden Avenue Change of location ratified _

After viewing said Avenue it was Voted:: that we hereby ratify the vote passed in the morning authorizing the Com. on Grounds to change the location thereof & to remove such trees as may be necessary . _ Attest A. J. Coolidge Secy

Trustees _ .

The regular monthly meeting of the Trustees was held at the usual place on ~

There were present, the President & Messrs Crockett, Kuhn, Little & Tisdale. _

The record of the two last meetings was read & approved.

Petitn for Conservatory _ Referred to next board of Trustees. _

A petition was presented & read, signed by Theophilus Parsons & 49 other proprietors that the Trustees will caused to be erected in Mount Auburn a conservatory for the preservation of plants &c during the cold season. _

Voted that the same be referred to the next board of Trustees. _

House for Supt _

A Communication was received from Mr Bangs, - he being detained at home by ill health _ suggesting to the consideration of the Trustees the propriety of building a house for the Superintendent.

Salary of Superintendent's Clerk _

Also, of discontinuing the extra salary paid to the Superintendent's Clerk: -

Supts Salary

Also - what salary shall then be paid to the Superintendent.

Referred to next board of Trustees -

After discussion of the same it was Voted to refer the matter contained in the foregoing communication to the next board of Trustees.

H.M. Parker's Bill _

Mr Little of the Committee chosen in May last to settle with Mr H. M. Parker, reported that mr Parker would deduct from his bill $25, & recommended that his account be allowed with that deduction.

Voted to accept the report, & to authorize

the Committee to settle the same in accordance therewith.

Petitn to change no. of Lot 2263 _

The Treasurer, for Mr George Bates, proprietor of lots nos 708 & 2263, asked the Trustees to authorize the number of lot 2263 to be expunged, & that the same may become a part of ^lot 708, it having been purchased as an addition thereto.

Referred to Com. on Lots -

Voted to refer the same to the Committee upon lots with full power. _

Adjournt_

Voted that when we adjourn, it be to meet at this place on Saturday the second day of February, at 12 O'clock M. to hear the report of the Treasurer & Supt & transact any other business that may come before the meeting. _

A petition was received & presented from H. W. Dutton, Freeman Winship for the heirs of Jona. Winship, S. S. Holton, proprietors of lots 420, 421 & 422 respectivelly, that that the numbers upon the deeds & record may be

changed so as to correspond with the numbers of the lots as actually occupied by them: _ S.S. Holton's to become 420, H. W. Dutton's 421, & the heirs of Winship 422. _

Voted to refer the same to the next board of Trustees. _

Secy's bill for extra services _

the Secretary presented a bill of $56 for Extra Services rendered the Corporation during the year 1855.

Voted that the Treasurer be ordered to pay the same. _

Secy's Memorial in respect to Salary _

The Secretary also presented a memorial representing that the present salary paid for discharging the duties of that office is insufficient, & petitioning that the same be increased, _ which was read. _

Voted that the same be referred to the next Board of Trustees.

Proprietors 1856 Annual Meeting _

Mount Auburn Cemetery

The Annual Meeting of the Proprietors of the Cemetery of Mount Auburn will be held at the Meionaon, Tremont Temple, on to hear the reports of the Trustees, Treasurer & Superintendent: to choose Trustees for the ensuing year & to act on any other business which may legally come before the meeting.

Pursuant to the foregoing notice which was published more than seven days successively in the Boston Daily Advertiser & in the Boston Evening Transcript, prior to the time of aid meeting, the Proprietors met at the time and place therein named.

A quorum being present, Dr. Bigelow the President took the chair. _

Records read _

the Secretary read the records of the last Annual Meeting.

Treasr's Annual Report _ Supt's. _

The Treasurer read his annual report; also that of the Superintendent, which from the fact of his recent appointment, was less complete that it would otherwise have been. _

And said reports were accepted. _

Trustees Annual Report _

The President in behalf of the Trustees presented their Annual report, & the same was read & accepted. _

Reports to be printed _

Voted that the reports of the Treasurer & Trustees be printed for general distribution among the Proprietors, & that the Secretary give public notice of the place where every proprietor can call for a copy of the same. _

Voted to proceed to choose nine trustees for the ensuing year.

Upon motion this vote was subsequently reconsidered.._ And it was then

Twelve Trustees to be chosen. _

Voted that this meeting proceed to choose twelve Trustees for the ensuing year. _
