Trustees

The regular monthly meeting of the Trustees was held at the Office of the Secretary .—

There were present Messrs Bangs, Bigelow & Tisdale. Several matters were informally discussed, but as no quorum was preset, the meeting was dissolved without taking any action.—

The record of the last meeting was read.—

Secy to compile all rules & orders

Voted, that the Secretary, for the sake of conveient reference, be authorized to make a compilation of all standing rules & orders passed by the Trustees & the Corporation.

Comee to receive books &c. of Ex Supt

Voted that Messrs Little & Bangs be a Committee to wait upon Mr Howe, & request him to deliver over all Books, papers, documents or other property be-- longing to the Proprietors of Mount Auburn Cemetery.

Supt's communication

A communication form the Supt., Mr Mann, was read— in relation to Bonds for the removal of bodies from the receiving tombs— also in relation

to the present condition of the receiving tombs—: and as to the compensation for interments:—

Comee upon Receiving tomb Bonds

Upon which it was, Voted, that the aforesaid Committee be also requested to inquire into the present practice of leaving bonds for removal of bodies from the receiving tomb with the Supt of burials in Boston, & to recommend at the next meeting, the most practicable course to be adopted in relation to the giving, receiving & care of said bonds.

Comee authorised to clear out Receiving tombs

Voted that so much of the aforesaid commu-- nication as relates to deposits now remaining in the receiving tombs be referred to the same Com-- mittee, with full power to cause the removal from the same of all bodies which have remained therein beyond the time allowed by the aforesaid bonds.—

Upon the communication of the Supt in reference to charges for interments.

Fees for Interments

Voted that hereafter two dollars & fifty cents ($2.50) shall be charged for digging a grave & making an interment, and fifty (.50) cents additional for recording the same; and that, for each interment in a tomb, a proportional part of said sum be charged, according to the amount of service rendered in each case.

Another communication was submitted from the Supt, in relation to obstructions placed in the Avenues & paths by persons making erections & doing other work.—

also in relation to rapid driving in the grounds & injury caused thereby: in relation to which it was

Consent of Comee on Lots be obtained for erection of Tombs, Monuments &c.

Voted. that no person shall hereafter erect any tomb, monument, fence or other important structure in Mount Auburn, without the consent of the Committee upon lots being first obtained; and in case of grave-- stones & small structures the consent of the Superintendent shall be first obtained.

Gatekeeper to enforce rule as to fast driving

Voted, that the gate-keeper be instructed to call the attention of all persons whom he may see violating the rule in re-- lation to rapid driving in the grounds, to said regulation.—

Lot 400. Representation of.

In accordance with the request of the heirs of Benj. Brown, late proprietor of lot No. 400.

Voted, that Benj. F. Brown, son of the deceased, be designated to represent said lot, & vote at the meetings of the Corporation, re-- ceiving a ticket of admission in that capacity, until the further action of this board.

It was also—

Quarter lots to be laid out

Voted, that the Committee on lots be authorized to lay out such number of quarter lots, containing 75 feet each, & in such places, as they may deem expedient, each such quarter lot to be sold for $50— fifty-dollars.—

The meeting was then dissolved Attest Austin J. Coolidge Secretary.

Trustees .

The regular monthly meeting of the Trustees was held at the usual place on .

There were presesnt Messrs Bangs, Bigelow, Curtis, Kuhn, Read and Tisdale.

The record of the last meeting was read.

Mr Bangs of the Committee appointed at the

Comee. to wait upon Mr Howe report - Treasr. added to- & Com. authorized

last meeting to request of Mr Howe the delivery of all books & papers belonging to the Corporation, reported progress & desired for the Committee further time.

Voted to add the Treasurer to the aforesaid Committee, and that the Committee be further authorized to examine the accounts between Mr Howe and the Corporation, & make a full settlement with Mr Howe.

Communication from Supt. upon new Avenue

A communication was read from the Superintendent upon the expediency of layout out a new avenue from a point near the Stable to Lime Avenue:-

filling Pond

of filling up a part of the whole of the Pond lying between the Stable & Central Avenue:-

Sundry Regulations in reference

of requiring a certain amount of money to be placed on deposit in each case of interment in the Receiving Tomb, a part of which shall be refunded in case of removal of the body so interred, within a specified time:-

to Receiving

of making extra charges for deposits in the Receiving Tombs, where the body deposited is afterwards removed from the Cemetery:-

Tombs.

of making some disposition of old deposits remaining in the Receiving Tombs without name or date: -

of further securing the Receiving Tomb against effluvia.-

Same referred to Comee on Grounds, &c with full power. & to report

Upon which it was Voted, that so much of the aforesaid communication as relates to laying out said new Avenue, be referred to the committee upon Grounds Avenues & Paths, with full power to lay out the same if they think it expedient: -

Voted, that the other matters contained in said communication be referred to the same Committee, with instruction to report thereon at the next meeting. -

Lodge - more light for _

The subject of intruding light into the Lodge was next proposed. Voted to refer the same to the Committee on Grounds, Avenues & Paths, with full power.

Removing [S]upt. house - other buildings-

It was further Voted, to authorize the same Committee to cause the removal of the Superintendent's house & the adjacent buildings from the Cemetery, if they shall think it expedient.

Avenues &c Comee. on Ground [?] to name.

Also, Voted to empower the same Committee to give names to new avenues & paths, from time to time. _
