Clear Wednesday, May 4, 1870. 55

Went to Jno M Cooley's. R I J and E M Allen went to the " viewing" of the proposed new road from Thoma's Rem. Dr Stump spent the day with me. Dr Stump gave me a Scotch terrier slut.

Threatening and showry all day. A. J. Caldwell & Isaac C Wilson called at the office for advice and med: Delia Cox called after dinner & I paid her in full and 10 cents overpaid her. "Dan" was away all day carrying chain for the surveyors on the proposed new road. Samuel Holloway spent evening here.

Sent Dan again to the road survey. I have taken cold & do not feel well. Drove to Gorrell's & had Kitty's front shoes removed. Recd letter from Hallie Lea. Wrote to Sister Mary.

Mailed letter to Sister Mary. Mr & Mrs Jas: Forwood called also Lenny Mills. Wm Coale took tea and spent the night with us. Bro R also.

Wm Coale left in time for meeting. After noon Bro R Y I drove over to Mr Isaac C. Wilson's finding no one at home we came around to E M Allen and made a call returning to tea. Cousin Keziah called at the Cottage. Bro R went to Mr Wm Wilson's to spend the night.

Clear. Monday 9 56.

Went over the breek near Hopewll & Rounds to Richard Millers. Afternoon went to Mr W W Wilson's and vaccinated his two youngest children.

Went to Garrell's shop to get key mended and on to Herron's. Warfield's and ato the Academy. Thunder storm at dinner time. Took the children to School in the carriage. Called at Joshua Scottens and prescribed for his wife.

Rain. Wednesday 11 50

Sent Charley to school behind Dan on horseback. Got 2 bushels Mercer potatoes from Pritchard's. A. Holloway Wm Wilson & Joshua Scotten called. After tea went to Scotten's and Store. Cleared off beautifully before sundown.

Went to Scotten's and Glen Cove. Called at Saml: Day's. A.J Caldwell called at the office for advice and medicine.

Went to Scotten's and Mr Wm Wilson's. Jno: M Cooley and W. W. Wilson called after tea.

Parker Forwood called at the office Went to Scotten's & J M Coolely's where I vaccinated their children. Dr Whiteford called. H Received a letter from her mother. Sent Dan to Saml. Days for Doras shoes.

Beautiful day. Went with Bro R to friend's Meeting. After noon H & the children came up to cousin R I J's and spent an hour or two. Friend Jno: W Coale took tea with us. Mr & Mrs. Wm Wilson spent the evening with us. Bro R went home with them to spend the night. Mr W. expects to leave for Balto: early in the morning and home the same day.

Quite warm to day. Went to Scotten's and to the store. After noon went to Glen Cove. Met the Misses Smith & Miss Stokes. Called at the Stones on way home. Took Sulkey to the shop. Jimmy Wilson came to spend the night with Charley.

Went to Scotten's, Gorrell's & P Silvers where I borrow'd a rope to assist in "Razzeing" the willow tree. E. Dare. Mother Retzer, Isaac, Ellie & Nanny arrived before dinner. Wm Ely came after dinner & we took off the top of the willow treee. Philip Swamps & Isaac Thompson called at the office.

Isaac & Ellie & E Dare went home after breakfast. I went to Scotten's and P. Silver's Gorrell's & Warfields. Mrs. Wm Wilson dined & spent the afternoon with us.
